Art at the Conference: Introduction
Computer art, digital art, new media - whatever term we use, it is clear this work can neither be simply defined nor fully reflected at a single gathering such as circuits@nys.
circuits@nys does present a sampling of performances, installations, video screenings, web sites and CD-ROMs as starting point for further exploration.
Throughout the conference, you can visit our Cyber Café, a dedicated space with Mac and PC stations to view new artists' projects on the web and on CD-ROM, or visit four on-site installations.
Friday and Saturday nights feature special events: Mikel Rouse's solo performance "Living Inside Design" on Friday, and a Saturday Night Arts Festival, in which you can experience performances by Nick Didkovsky and Joshua Fried; a video-conferencing feed from The Kitchen's "Techno-Passion" festival; video screenings; as well as the Cyber Café and installations.
While Conference site limitations ruled out inclusion of a "gallery" section of prints and two-dimensional work, Conference participants are also encouraged to visit a related temporary exhibition of NYFA Computer Arts Fellowship recipients presented by Thunder Gulch at 55 Broad Street, New York City, 4th floor.
