10:00-11:45 Opening Plenary: The Arts In a Digital Age

For some members of the arts community, working with digital technology is a foray along a new path, with the excitement and apprehension any such journey entails. For others, engagement with these tools has been at the center of their work for decades. Joan Shigekawa, Associate Director for Arts and Humanities at the Rockefeller Foundation, and Steven Johnson, cofounder and Editor-in-chief, FEED Magazine, will share their experiences and explore the implications of working in the arts at the start of the digital age. They will be joined by internationally acclaimed electronic artist Steina Vasulka, who will perform.
