Knowledge in Technology (KIT) Program

The Knowledge in Technology (KIT) program, implemented in three cycles in 2001-2002, provided professional development, peer support, and one-on-one technical assistance for small to mid-sized arts organizations in Buffalo, New York, Washington DC and New York City. Designed as a peer-learning opportunity in technology planning, the program utilized a three pronged approach, one part of which was access to the curriculum materials provided here. In addition, participants worked one-on-one with a team of technical consultants to develop technology plans specific to their organizational goals. Participants also met as a group at the beginning, middle, and end of the program for a facilitated discussion on their progress in planning as well as specific technical content, and communicated in between sessions via a listserv.

By the end of the program, each organization successfully wrote a technology plan based on internal conversations, research, assessment, and guidance from the consultants.

These materials were originally used as part of the curriculum of the KIT program. NYFA is in the process of updating these materials for more general use. Please check back here for updated information.

Major funding for The Knowledge in Technology Program was provided by the Nathan Cummings Foundation, with additional funding from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. The program was also made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency; additional public funding was received from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. Past support was also received from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
