Mock Panels
A Unique Tool from NYFA, for Educators

What is a Mock Panel?
A NYFA Mock Panel helps prepare students for the real world. This process gives students a behind-the-scenes tour of professional artistic review panels and gives invaluable tips to strengthen their applications for graduate schools, residencies and grants.

How does it work?
Students prepare and submit digital applications online, including work samples, resumes and artist statements, using the same interface applicants use to apply for a NYFA Artists' Fellowship. Then, NYFA staff will provide feedback when your class is invited to our offices to see their submissions in the context of a live-jury panel.

Who are Mock Panels for?
NYFA Mock Panels are a powerful component of any syllabus, and have already been implemented in undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs across the country. Students in varying disciplines, including visual, sculpture and time-based art, will benefit from this experience.
