Artists' Fellowship - 1996
Choreography

Artist Statement:
"For more than thirty years I have worked as choreographer, composer, filmmaker and director, weaving together elements of gesture, music, film, object, light and ambiance into my performances. I hope that this multi-dimensional approach creates a poetry of movement, sound and image that increases the luminosity and radiance of the audience's experience." Monk's recent solo work 'Volcano Songs' (1994) employs the volcano as a metaphor for cycles of creation, destruction and renewal.
