Artist Statement:
Project Title: Brothers Keeper: The Defense of Delbert Ward. Brothers Keeper: The Defense of Delbert Ward is a two hour non-fiction feature film that follows the real-life story of Delbert, Bill, Lyman and Roscoe Ward, poor eccentric dairy farming brothers. The nearly illiterate brothers lead a rural life farmers might have lead 200 years ago with no indoor plumbing, no telephone, no running water. In June of 1990 Bill died in his sleep. The next day, Delbert was arrested and confessed to suffocating his brother. Despite a signed confession and incriminating evidence, Delbert maintains his innocence.
