NYFA Artists
Artists' Fellowship - 2000
Painting

Artist Statement:
Much of my work derives from doodles, the marks of an absent mind. The doodle is both process and image at the same time. In my work, the obsessive mark-making of the doodle mixes with forms inspired by childhood memories, maps, charts, biological forms, technological imagery and quasi-architectural structures." Diana Cooper draws obsessively with ballpoint on wall surfaces. These pieces, some as tall as 124 inches, also spill onto the floor, transferring the line into adhesive foam strips that link the wall to rickety structures of wispy wood sticks that are anchored to the floor.

More about the Artist:
Participated in the exhibition Buying Time: Nourishing Excellence at Sotheby's, New York, from June-July 2001.
