Artists' Fellowship - 2000
Painting
Artist Statement: My work speaks about ancestral knowledge and memories that are kept alive through common rituals and objects, the power of association and the story-telling tradition. I make mixed media objects, which incorporate painting, digital imagery, installation and assemblage from wood, acrylic, found objects and ready-mades." In Priestly’s composition, Lookin Glass #8, a wreath is formed by hanging floral patterned and white china teacups on the wall. Upon close inspection of this striking assemblage, one can see the images of human forms marked on the porcelain.
