NYFA Artists
Artists' Fellowship - 2000
Painting

Artist Statement:
"Acrollage...is simply the combination of acrylic and paper, the paint and textures which are achieved by layering glazes of luminous colors and the blanding of fermenting surfaces, stenciled with rice and imaged paper. The imagery evokes a range of archetypal themes and employs a new vocabulary of classical and urban origin. Complex simplicity creates the graphic composition. The empowerment of the spiritual and emotional evolves from the act of their own creation and defines a distinctive quality." Rodriguez’s deep and mysteriously colored pieces employ contemporary photographic images from our mass media. By integrating these faces with rich paint and metallic stenciling, the cumulative effect recalls both fashion magazines and Eastern European religious icons.

Participated in the exhibition Buying Time: Nourishing Excellence at Sotheby's, New York, from June-July 2001.
