Artist Statement: "l...did a 40 painting series entitled, Eat, Drink that depicted the enjoyment of food as a social and societal phenomena.... I used bold dancing colors integrated with sharp realism in overindulgent compositions. The work is a somewhat heroic and adventurous journey into men’s and women s relationships with the computer as interpreted by the artist. It is explosive and should blow the socks off the art world. It is slick. It is visually subtle but interpretively suggestive and overtly non-violent. It is stimulating yet not too provocative although deadly seductive and sensual. STAY TUNED." Singletary’s concern with relations among people of different races informs many of the works in this series of blowsy oils. Despite his deep connection to these themes, the artist successfully cuts the weight of his subjects with humor, while retaining his original social commentary.
