Artists' Fellowship - 2000
Painting
Artist Statement: My work is a continuous process of self-inspection. My self-portraits chronicle my evolving physiological and psychological states. I am interested in issues of identity as they relate to gender, age and race, and I am fascinated by the ambiguous nature of the transition between childhood and adulthood. In my paintings, I explore the complex and mysterious psychological layering we form during childhood and which we retain as adults.
