Ralph Lemon received a CalArts Alpert Award in the Arts, and has been invited to participate in the National Theatre Artist Residency Program, funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. Presently, he is an Associate Artist at Yale Repertory Theatre and a Board Member of Danspace Project at St. Marks Church.
Lemon recently completed work on the Geography Trilogy, three full-evening performance works created over an
eight-year span that investigate an apparent collision of cultures and a search for personal and artistic
identity within a broader world arena. Geography, Part I: Africa/Race, commissioned by Yale Repertory
Theatre, premiered in 1997; Geography, Part II: Tree was co-produced by Yale Repertory Theatre and Cross
Performance Inc and premiered in April 2000; Geography, Part III: House premiered at Krannert Center in Urbana, IL in September 2004.
Lemon has also created books and gallery exhibitions related to the development of The Geography Trilogy.
His book, Geography: art/race/exile, is currently available through Wesleyan University Press.
