Curatorial Assistant to the Chief Curator

A full-time curatorial assistant position, reporting directly to the chief curator, is available in the curatorial department. The primary role of the incumbent is to maintain the chief curator's office as a smoothly running operation on a day-to-day basis.
Responsibilities include a range of administrative duties (telephone, management of the chief curator's calendar, maintenance of records, correspondence, general office and clerical duties); acting as liaison with the chief curator's internal and external contacts; assisting with museum acquisitions, including coordination of three Painting and Sculpture Committee meetings per year; assisting in the planning and installation of exhibitions (correspondence, loan forms, checklists); assisting with catalogues and other publications (obtaining transparencies, reproduction permissions, necessary back-up information); research as needed for exhibitions, publications, and special projects.
Job requirements include: B.A. and interest in 20th-21st century art; 2-3 years administrative and museum/gallery curatorial experience; Microsoft Office required; excellent writing, research, communication, clerical, and organizational skills; excellent telephone manner and attention to detail; ability to handle several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
