Finance Director

• Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance will be responsible for the finance department with an increased focus on strengthening and enhancing: • Financial planning and monitoring activities • Efficiency of the data tracking, analysis and financial reporting functions • Cash management
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Drive annual budget development and monitoring process with ED and Departments • Direct development and implementation of enhanced financial strategies, analysis and systems • Formulate, recommend and implement sound fiscal policies, procedures and controls • Conduct monthly budget monitoring meetings with program and other departments • Oversight and monitoring of internal controls and fiscal functions; ensure compliance with funding restrictions • Enhance financial reporting functions including, but not limited to the preparation of financial statements, forecasting, cash flow, actual vs. budget reports & analyses • Analyze financial reports and report to the Finance Committee and senior management on a monthly basis • Manage all external financial reporting including but not limited to annual audit, IRS 990 and A133 compliance. • Ensure all finance policies and procedures are documented, communicated and reflect current practices • Implement projects that increase the efficiency of the financial function • Other administrative activities including, but not limited to: payroll, wire transfers, consultant agreements, checks; and negotiate vendor and bank relationships with the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have financial management experience; non-profit sector
• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; MBA/CPA a plus • Proven ability to lead and be a visionary • Excellent skills in problem solving and critical analysis • Strong business instincts; able to quickly identify problems, synthesize a variety of factors to make effective and practical decisions and develop an appropriate course of action. • Understands programmatic activity and has the ability to convey information to people with varying levels of financial expertise • Clear and effective written and oral communicator • Excellent presentation and organizational skills • Ability to manage difficult situations with tact and diplomacy • Ability to collaborate and build consensus internally and externally • Ability to work well in teams as well as independently • Must be able to pay attention to small details and all moving parts • Must be able to meet deadlines and work under sometimes tight turnaround deadlines • Must be willing to work evening and weekends when needed • Proven high standards of performance, eager to pursue aggressive goals, and works hard/smart to achieve them. • Must be persistent, decisive, resourceful, proactive, able to handle multiple assignments and establish time management to ensure meeting of deadlines and should be results-oriented. • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Quickbooks.
Additional Qualifications
• Must be able to keep confidential information and maintain the trust of the ED and Board.
