Summary of the Agency:
The Coalition for Hispanic Family Services is a multi-service agency serving children and families of North Brooklyn.  These include foster care, adoption, youth development, primary health care, mental health, HIV/AIDS case management, community health education and outreach, in-service internships and after school education.  The Beacon Center for Arts & Leadership, a program of the Coalition, is An educational and recreational community center serving the youth and families in Bushwick, we provide opportunities to create, critically think, communicate, and problem solve through arts-based activities that build leadership skills and empower the individual.  Community youth have access to free programming in mediums such as creative writing, visual arts, sports, media literacy, drama, music, yoga, and martial arts; in addition to free aerobics classes, a fitness room, and ESL classes for adults.

Summary of Position:
The Early Childhood Camp Teacher will facilitate an early childhood curriculum for campers between the ages of 4-10 Monday - Friday from 4:00pm -7:00pm.  Teacher must be energetic, and possess prior experience working with mixed-age groups.  Teacher will be responsible for leading the children in arts and crafts project, movement based activities.  The position will run from July 8 thru August 23 with the potential to continue once school begins again in September.  The Summer Camp program, Little Leader is part of the Beacon Center for Arts & Leadership, a program of the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services.  Salary based on experience and education.

Qualifications:
•Current certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
•Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred with 3-5 years’ experience working with elementary school children.
•Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred.
•Strong track record of successfully teaching in a public school, afterschool or in a similar environment.
•Excellent knowledge of educational standards, curriculum development, and best practices regarding youth development.  
•Strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills.
•Ability to work in fast paced environment and handle several projects and deadlines concurrently.
•Ability to create lesson plans that are project based in a timely manner.
•Must submit health history record and examination form prior to first day of work.
•Successful completion of criminal background check process.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Highly organized self-starter.
