Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery

A major contemporary art gallery seeks highly responsible, organized, and detail-oriented interns to assist with an upcoming exhibition of works by a monumental, contemporary architect. Candidates must be capable of multitasking, and working well in high stress, fast-paced environments. Relevant study or work experience required.
Installation/Deinstallation: Interns will assist staff from a major architectural foundation, gallery staff, and art handlers in the exhibition’s installation and deinstallation. This includes arranging models, photographs, books, and cataloging information, and sketches throughout the gallery over the course of one week. The installation process will be extremely fast paced and complex.
Guarding: Interns will be responsible for overseeing and guarding the exhibition space while open to the public. This includes ensuring architectural models are safe and properly cared for, and that only appropriate materials are handled by public. Each student will be responsible for one quadrant of the gallery per day.
Docents: Interns will be responsible for handling visitor inquiries regarding the exhibition. Members of the architectural foundation will give detailed explanations of projects to students prior to opening, to ensure each student is able to oversee his/her station, and answer questions accordingly. Students will additionally assist with preparing and leading weekly lectures for a major architectural foundation.
Candidates must be: -detail-oriented -proactive -efficient -personable/have strong communication skills -able to stand on his/her feet for extended periods of time
A strong interest in Art History and Contemporary Art is preferred; a background in Architecture is required.
The internship is preferably 4-5 days per week, Monday to Saturday, beginning Monday, June 17th and lasting through Monday, August 12th. The internship is unpaid.
