Project Manager
Cai Studio
(New York NY)

The studio of artist Cai Guo-Qiang (www.caiguoqiang.com) is seeking a full time Project Manager.  

The Project Manager will be responsible for organizing and managing new projects, exhibitions, and print publications.
Other duties include art handling, registrar, on-site installation, and assisting with artwork production.  

Candidates must

• Demonstrate ability and experience in simultaneous Mandarin Chinese-English translation on a wide variety of topics in public speaking events,
as well as reading and writing in both languages.

• Have 2-5 years of related experience in managing large-scale art projects and exhibitions, including working with international museums, non-profit institutions, auction houses and galleries.

• Be detail-oriented, have superior problem-solving and communication skills.  

• Demonstrate a track record of strong leadership; be able to handle a fast-paced environment and multiple tight deadlines while working as part of a small, close-knit team.

• Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and FileMaker in a Macintosh environment.

• Be prepared for frequent and extended periods travel for site visits as well as oversee exhibition installation.

Strongly desired:

• Experience with event production, registrar, publishing, public relations, fundraising, contracts and legal matters, budgets, and sales.

• A passion for contemporary art and knowledge of current art events.
Keen interest in other art fields and disciplines, such as performance art, music and film is also beneficial.

• Candidates with an art history and/or art administration background, especially those with a master’s degree will be given preferential consideration.

This is a full time position with benefits including paid vacation, health and travel insurance. Salary commensurate with experience.
