Mike Weiss Gallery is seeking a Sales Assistant /Assistant to the Owner to start immediately.  Qualified applicants will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, 3-4 years gallery experience. The ideal candidate must be extremely organized, professional, and punctual, possess a strong work ethic and maintain a flexible schedule.

The main responsibility of this position will be to assist the gallery owner with sales and correspondence, maintaining personal and gallery calendar and overall gallery maintenance.  They will be the first person encountered upon entering the gallery therefore a pleasant and professional demeanor is essential as is the ability to juggle many tasks simultaneously and maintain composure under pressure.

Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
-Overseeing the physical appearance of the gallery and office
-Interacting with visitors and clients by phone, email and in person
-Assisting in the production of mass emails, invitations and press releases
-Data entry and database maintenance
-Assisting with gallery administration and operations
-General research
-Assisting with various gallery projects
-Liaising with artists and doing studio visits

Qualifications:
-2-4 years curatorial and sales experience
-Excellent organizational skills and capacity to meet multiple deadlines
-Extensive communications and networking ability
-BA in Art History or related field; M.A. preferred
-Candidate must be articulate, confident, and uphold a professional demeanor at all times
-Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Outlook, Artsystems/ArtBase/FileMaker Pro

Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30a.m. –  6:30p.m. some evening and weekend hours required. This person will be “on-call” as needed by the owner.
