A. Emergency Funders that Serve Financial Need

New York Foundation for the Arts often receives calls from artists requesting information on emergency grants to serve dire financial need given the current economic downturn. While many emergency funders define “emergency” as an unforeseeable catastrophic event such as a hurricane or fire, some define “emergency” more fluidly to include bereavement, illness, or general financial need. NYFA has compiled the following list of emergency funders that define “emergency” in ways that may serve dire financial need (depending on circumstance). Check the organizations’ websites or call to get the latest programmatic information and eligibility requirements.

Below the following list of emergency funders you will find information on websites that host job listings, art material resources, non-art organizations that may be of use to artists experiencing dire financial need, and a listing of art service organizations in NYC.

The following list contains only a sample of the resources available to artists on NYFA's website. For details about individual programs and access to more resources, visit NYFA Source at www.nyfasource.org - the nation's most extensive directory of information and services for individual artists.
