Centered in Poughkeepsie, NY, PAUSE builds creative, civic and social capital in the community through projects that allow residents to take ownership of long depressed neighborhoods. We generate opportunities for city residents to become active participants in building a new future. Projects produce tangible outcomes; redesigned public space, improved access to food, and opportunities for at-risk youth.
PAUSE sees the city not as the sum of its parts, but in its entirety, as a representation of the people who live there. Bold innovation comes in our desire to access and engage the city in remaking the urban fabric. Significant change emerges out of these community relationships, addressing long-term, systemic decay through an equally dedicated response.
