Details

The Astonishing Adventures of All American Girl & The Scarlet Skunk is a play that celebrates the history of comic books and super-heroic radio shows.

"Turn up the radio and get your decoder rings ready! “Astonishing Adventures” is a pulse-pounding tale of romance, comedy and action inspired by Golden Age comic books and radio shows. Thrill to the adventures of All American Girl and her plucky sidekick The Scarlet Skunk as they wage a two-fisted battle against injustice! Can they stand against the nefarious Doctor Mindshrinker and his deadly atomic ray gun? Will they find love on the rooftops of New York City? Find out in a tale unlike anything you have witnessed before! Brought to you by Chocolate Fluffo, the Super delicious dessert topping!"

The production team behind "Astonishing Adventures" is responsible for the post-apocalyptic comedy “That Cute Radioactive Couple” along with decades of previous theatrical productions.

Playwright Charles Battersby is also the screenwriter of The Storyteller: Fallout, an animated science fiction webseries by Shoddycast.

"Astonishing Adventures" may be a comedy about punching evildoers, but it uses humor to address serious themes that include women’s rights, “Moral Panic” and transgender issues.

Battersby has presented panels on transgender comic book characters at the New York Comic Con, Special Edition NY, and the LGBT geek convention Flamecon.

Battersby's previous productions have attracted audience members who had never attended a live theatrical event before. With the comic book themes, this show will draw in comic book fans who will discover theatre through All American Girl’s adventures. Promotional events will be held at comic book and video game conventions to ensure that new audiences become aware of the project.
