MOVE(NYC) is a multi-pillared arts organization whose mission is to cultivate greater diversity and equity within the dance profession and beyond. It holds the vital role of shaping highly-gifted dance artists and leaders at specific milestones in their career and actualizes this responsibility by reducing financial barriers to dance training and providing resources for career advancement--primarily serving historically marginalized and underrepresented dancers. Through its core and ancillary programs, MOVE(NYC) is committed to artistic excellence, leadership, mentorship, community engagement, equity, and social change.

MOVE(NYC)'s overarching goal is to strengthen the field of dance by cultivating a more diverse and equitable dance community, one that better reflects the multicultural world we live in today. The goal is to empower artists: to actively develop thinkers, explorers, and risk takers who will not only enter the dance profession, but lead it.

MOVE(NYC) has grown rapidly in the past four years. It began as a three-week Summer Dance Intensive serving 30 young dancers, ages 13 to 18, from New York City. To date, MOVE(NYC) has developed into a robust, year-round artistic training and mentorship hub serving 100 dancers between the ages of 13 and 21; develops teaching and performance opportunities for 30 diverse professional artists; and provides free and low cost community based performances that make art accessible and vital to over 1,000 people in New York City.
