KODA is a nonprofit arts organization based in New York dedicated to mid-career artists of diverse backgrounds. We grant residencies to allow for experimentation and facilitate creative projects through strategic partnerships with socially engaged businesses. We are the go-to thinking spot and serve the community through exhibitions of contemporary art, events and outreach to strengthen art education.

KODA works with mid-careers conceptual artists who explore social justice related topics. They surface the world’s economic and social challenges through their insightful research and concepts.

Our contribution:

  • Residencies and exhibitions: we invite the artists to think, create or collaborate on projects.
  • Community and education programs: we make art accessible and we inspire younger generations to learn and engage.
  • Partnerships with socially engaged businesses: we develop unique opportunities for making impact.

We have launched in 2020 with a community program at FiveMyles (February 11-16, 2020) including an exhibition Hidemi Takagi: Stories. The first two residencies are launching in fall 2020 with Lina Puerta and Hidemi Takagi. Survey exhibition of Lina Puerta's work is planned for fall 2021. Our work is designed around the needs of individual artists, with the main aim to provide them with due exposure and scholarship. Our strategy and our projects are aligned with the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
