New York Foundation for the Arts often receives calls from artists requesting information on emergency grants to serve financial need or an emergency such as bereavement or illness

COVID-19 EMERGENCY RESOURCES

    • 4 Culture Cultural Relief Fund (King County, WA) - Grants up to $2,000 are available for emergencies related to the COVID-19 virus and to support the creative responses cultural workers offer in times of crisis. Open to residents of King County, WA only.

    • ACM Lifting Lives COVID-19 Response Fund - The fund was created to alleviate the burden that many of the behind-the-scenes professionals in the Country music community are facing due to the COVID-19 crisis. Application process has been put on pause until additional funds become available for disbursement.



    • Amplify Arts Micro Grants (Omaha, NE) - Any artist, collaborative duo, or artist collective who has maintained a residence within the Omaha Metro Area including Washington, Douglas, Cass, Sarpy, and Saunders counties in Nebraska, and Pottawattamie, Mills, and Harrison counties in Iowa for at least one year is eligible to apply. Current application cycle is closed. Please check again for the next cycle.

    • Artist + Activist Relief Fund - This fund, created by The Soze Foundation, TaskForce and Invisible Hand, will support artists and activists whose work has been impacted by COVID-19. Currently not accepting new applications; artists may join a waiting list should more funds become available. 

    • Artist Community Relief Fund (Lower East Side and Chinatown, NY) - The Artist Community Relief Fund supports artists and arts workers in the Lower East Side and Chinatown community affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It provides unrestricted $250 emergency grants. Seeking additional funds to support another round of awards.

    • Artist Relief - Artist Relief will distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19; serve as an ongoing informational resource; and co-launch the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workers, designed by Americans for the Arts, to better identify and address the needs of artists.

    • Artist Relief Tree - A relief fund for artists affected by cancellations due to COVID-19. Disbursements are currently on hold while the organization seeks more funds, but you may join a waitlist.

    • The Artist Relief Trust (Kentucky) - The Artist Relief Trust will award $500 microgrants to artists of all disciplines across the state of Kentucky, including the Greater Louisville area as funders allow and as long as funding is available.

    • Artists Now (Bay Area, CA) - For artists who live in the Bay Area, who have been financially impacted by COVID-19, who are POC, Women, or identify as LGBTQIA+. First round of applications is currently closed. Please check again as they're seeking more funds to open a new round.

    • Arts and Culture Leaders of Color Emergency Fund - The Arts and Culture Leaders of Color Emergency Fund is intended to help those pursuing careers as artists or arts administrators whose income has been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This fund is for those who self-identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color).

    • Arts for Illinois Relief Fund (Illinois) - A statewide effort that provides financial relief to artists and arts organizations with urgent need due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through AIRF, 3Arts will issue $1,500 unrestricted, one-time grants to as many eligible artists as possible, given the total funding available.

    • Arts Greensboro Emergency Relief Fund (Greensboro, NC) - For any artist in need of support due to cancellations from the outbreak of COVID-19. This fund is a money-in, money-out fund. ArtsGreensboro will disperse funds weekly, based on the amount donated. This fund is directed to working artists, not organizations or nonprofits.

    • ArtsMemphis Artist Emergency Fund (Memphis, TN) - ArtsMemphis has established an Artist Emergency Fund to help self-employed artists of all arts disciplines (visual art, literary arts, film, dance, music, theater) and artists employed/contracted by nonprofit arts and culture organizations in Shelby County recover from lost income due to the cancellation of scheduled gigs or opportunities (such as a commission, performance, contract, etc.), or due to layoff or furlough due to COVID-19 precautionary measures.

    • The Atlanta Artist Lost Gig Fund (Atlanta, GA) - This fund is open to arts workers of ANY discipline including arts administrators, visual artists, craft artisans, performing artists of all kinds, musicians, writers, and all others. You must have documentation of your agreement for work (contract, email agreement, etc.) and documentation of the cancellation during the time of the COVID-19 crisis in order to apply (email stating such from contractor, etc.). 

    • Austin Creative Alliance (ACA) Artists Emergency Relief Fund (Austin, TX) - Artists may apply for up to $500 to replace verifiable lost income due to the cancellation of a specific, scheduled gig or opportunity (i.e. commissions, performances, contracts) due to Coronavirus/COVID-19 precautionary measures. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and are subject to approval and available funds. Priority will be given to ACA members, and to applicants facing food or housing insecurity. ACA is reviewing applications daily, so that funds can be in artists’ hands as quickly as possible.

    • Banding Together ATX (Austin, TX) - Applicants must be current residents of Austin and surrounding areas, unemployed at time of application with loss employment as a direct result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Loss of employment must be related to one of the following kinds of businesses: music venue, musician, music marketing/photography/content, bar, event production/activations, food & beverage, hotel, hospitality/DMCs.

    • Behind the Scenes Grant - Behind the Scenes will accept applications from anyone who has been hospitalized with Covid-19 and is in financial need. You may be eligible for a grant if you currently reside in the United States or Canada and have earned your living for at least five years in the entertainment technology industry. This means that your major source of income is from your work in this industry, which includes being directly involved with production: behind the scenes in any type of performance venue, or behind the camera, or on the road. It also includes working companies who are directly involved in supplying entertainment technology products and services such as dealers, manufacturers, production companies, consultants, and design firms. Performing artists are not eligible.

    • Bohemian Foundation's NoCo Music Relief Fund (Northern Colorado) - Northern Colorado musicians and individuals who work in contemporary popular music, including the self-employed and sole proprietors, are eligible for up to $1,000 in emergency relief funds.

    • Boston Singers' Relief Fund COVID-19 Emergency Relief (Boston, MA) - The Boston Singers' Relief Fund is offering a streamlined application process for grants up to $500. New England-based singers whose classical performances were cancelled due to concerns over COVID-19 are eligible to apply.

    • Bridgesong Fund (Western Massachusetts) - Emergency relief for western MA women, nonbinary, and genderqueer artists of color.

    • BxArts Factory Emergency Fund to Support Artists / Volunteers (The Bronx, NY) - An emergency fund through Go Fund Me, which will make proceeds available to artists through an online application process. At this time, all donations will be geared towards artists that are directly connected to BxArts Factory. Specifically, artists that are currently, or, have been: BxArts Factory Advisory Committee members; BxArts Factory teaching artists; BxArts Factory’s resident artists; or BxArts Factory volunteers. Additionally, artists who have participated in any of their exhibits or who have worked at their events may apply.

    • The Cabin Writer Relief Grants (Idaho) - In the next month, The Cabin will provide 15 $800 grants to working writers in need throughout Idaho. Application will be due May 1st and will be judged both on the writer’s financial need and how they are engaged and employed within the writing community. Grant money can be used for any expenses a writer needs to make it through this tough time. No follow-up report or budget will be required.

    • Cambridge Artist Relief Fund (Cambridge, MA) - Focused on lost income, current and into the foreseeable future, the Fund will provide one-time relief to arts organizations and artists who live, work, create, and/or perform in Cambridge. Only one grant per applicant is allowed.

    • Cape Cod Arts Relief Fund (Cape Cod, MA) - The fund will provide up to $500 per applicant to support full- or part-time professional artists who have lost income used to sustain their creative practice due to the COVID-19 crisis. To be eligible, artists must live, work, create, and/or perform on Cape Cod.

    • Charlottesville Emergency Relief Fund for Artists (Charlottesville, VA) - This Fund supports Charlottesville-area artists who have lost income due to the cancellation of specific, scheduled gigs or opportunities (commissions, performances, contracts, other jobs/loss of income) due to Coronavirus/COVID-19 precautionary measures. Artists can request up to $300 to compensate for scheduled work that was scheduled and lost. Artists are eligible to apply for loss of income regardless of whether the income was from art or other jobs. Artists must live in the Charlottesville area including the city of Charlottesville or the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, or Nelson.

    • Chicago Theatre Workers Relief Fund (Chicago, IL) - This Fund is intended to help replace lost income due to theatre closures. The Fund is available to all those who have had to stop work and are not getting paid, including those who were on contract, part-time employees and those working on a stipend that was not paid. Chicago area theatre professionals may apply for a grant of $500 on a first-come first-served basis.

    • Chippewa Valley Artist Relief Fund (Chippewa Valley, WI) - For artists/creatives, living in the Chippewa Valley, in need of support due to event/gig cancellations, the inability to sell your work/book shows, and/or lost revenue from their day job being eliminated from the coronavirus outbreak. Individual distributions are capped at $500, applications will be reviewed weekly.

    • City of Boston Artist Relief Fund (Boston, MA) - The Boston Artist Relief Fund will award grants of $500 and $1,000 to individual artists who live in Boston whose creative practices and incomes are being adversely impacted by Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). 

    • City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) - Arts Emergency Relief Fund (Los Angeles, CA) -This program provides emergency relief grants to City of Los Angeles-based dance, music, and theatre artists, as well as small ensembles who have had their public performances, shows, or concerts cancelled. Solo artists are eligible for up to $400 and ensembles up to $1,200 to cover losses in time and/or materials that were committed toward events, which were to have taken place at a venue within the City of Los Angeles and were to be open to the general public.

    • The Colorado Artist Relief Fund (Colorado) - Currently accepting applications from artists residing outside of the Denver metro area and providing grants of up to $1,000 to individual artists who are experiencing immediate unforeseen emergency needs due to COVID-19, and whose incomes are being adversely affected due to cancellation of events, classes, performances, and other creative work. Grants will be made on a rolling basis.

    • Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne and Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne: Artist Relief Fund (Fort Wayne, IN) - The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne and Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne have established an Artist Relief Fund to help the following individuals who have lost income due to COVID-19: self-employed artists of all disciplines, artists contracted by arts and culture nonprofit organizations, employees who have been laid off or furloughed by a nonprofit arts and culture organization or venue Applicants may request up to $500 to compensate for lost work or income. Round 1: May 1, 2020 – May 28, 2020.

    • Connecticut Artists Relief Grant Program (Connecticut) - The Connecticut Artists Relief Grant Program provides $500 grants to individual artists and teaching artists who live in Connecticut and whose creative practices and incomes are being adversely impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19). This is unrestricted funding that may be used for any kind of relief.

    • COVID-19 Artist Trust Relief Fund (Washington State) - The COVID-19 Artist Trust Relief Fund provides rapid response grants supporting critical needs of artists whose livelihoods have been impacted by COVID-19. The grant is open to individual artists of all disciplines residing in Washington State.

    • COVID-19 Arts Aid PHL (Philadelphia, PA) - A new emergency support fund focused on the arts and culture sector. COVID-19 Arts Aid PHL will support individual artists as well as arts and culture organizations whose operations, work and livelihood have been deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

    • COVID-19 Arts and Culture Relief Fund (Richmond, VA) - The COVID-19 Arts and Culture Relief Fund provides financial assistance to professional artists of all disciplines (visual, performing, and more) throughout the Richmond and Tri-Cities region who have lost income from cancelled paid creative opportunities during the Coronavirus pandemic.


    • Creative Industry Relief Fund (Fort Worth, TX) - Hear Fort Worth and Film Fort Worth with assistance from United Way of Tarrant County have established a creative industry relief fund to help support musicians, artists, performers and filmmakers who have lost work due to COVID-19.

    • Crew Nation Fund - Supporting live music crews who have been directly impacted as shows are put on pause due to COVID-19. International applications accepted. A new application window will open the week of May 18th for anyone who will be financially impacted by shows scheduled to take place in May 2020.

    • Crosshatch Artist Emergency Fund (Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau Counties, MI) - Funding for individual artists (not non-profits or institutions) who earn 33% or more of their income from their art, and who have lost income because of COVID-19 related cancellations.

    • Culture Connects Coalition (Santa Fe, NM) - Culture Connects Coalition is a fund to support arts and culture in all their expressions. In response to COVID-19 pandemic and to reduce its greater impact on the community, they have partnered with Lannan Foundation to form the Artist Relief Fund to help those artists most dramatically affected. 

    • Dallas Artist Relief Fund (Dallas, TX) - Provides support for low-income, BIPOC, trans/GNC/NB/Queer artists and freelancers whose livelihoods are being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Dallas.

    • The Dance Union Podcast NYC Dancers Relief Fund (COVID-19) (New York City) - This Fund will offer urgent relief to freelance dance artist that have suffered financial losses due to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus and the government enforced social restrictions. Applications are closed until further notice.

    • Denver Actors Fund Emergency Artist Relief (DEAR) (Denver, CO) - The Denver Actors Fund’s new DEAR Fund will be distributed in one-time, $250 stipends for artists impacted by COVID-19. Applicants must have resided in Colorado for at least six consecutive months immediately prior to applying for DEAR Funds.

    • Desert X Artist Relief Fund (Southern California) - The Desert X Artist Relief Fund, funded by the Desert X Board of Directors and the Desert X team, will distribute emergency grants to visual artists living and working in Southern California, including the Coachella Valley and desert environs, who have been directly impacted by the current COVID-19 pandemic. One-time unrestricted cash grants of $1,000 will be administered on a rolling basis until the fund is complete.

    • Dietl Art Handlers Assistance - Due to COVID-19 many art technicians are unemployed and in need of financial support. These technicians are often artists. Dietl has created a platform to show these artists’ work to be purchased directly from their studios.

    • Durham Artist Relief Fund (Durham, NC) - Providing assistance to artists and arts presenters in Durham who have been financially impacted by cancellations due to COVID-19, with priority given to BIPOC artists, transgender & nonbinary artists, and disabled artists.

    • Durham Arts Council Arts Recovery Fund (Durham, NC) - The Durham Arts Council Arts Recovery Fund provides grants to working artists that have suffered financial loss due to the cancellation of events because of COVID-19. Applicants must live in Durham County, be at least 18, have practiced their art form for at least three years and have suffered a documented loss due to COVID-19.

    • Early Music America (EMA) Relief Fund - Open to citizens or permanent residents of North America only. Early musicians will receive, on a first-come-first-served basis, a payment of $250.

    • Emergency Funds for Undocumented Youth and Families During COVID-19 (New York, NY) - This emergency fund is to support New York City undocumented youth and families whose livelihoods are being affected by COVID-19. Whether it’s from a decline in business for street vendors or being laid-off in domestic and restaurant jobs. Funds are currently exhausted and subjected to more donations.


    • Emergency Relief Fund for Arizona Artists and Arts Professionals (Arizona) - A collaborative fund for emergency support for working artists, teaching artists, production personnel, and arts-based contract workers who have experienced canceled events and residencies or terminated contracts as a result of the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic crisis. Application portal is temporarily closed due to volume of submissions.





    • Field of Vision and Topic Studio Documentary Freelancer Relief Fund - Field of Vision and Topic Studios have created a $250,000 fund to provide grants for freelancers working in the Documentary field. The fund will distribute unrestricted grants of up to $2000 to support personal financial needs during the COVID19 pandemic to freelancers who have experienced hardship from loss of income or opportunity as a result of the pandemic. The application will re-open on June 10th at 9am ET.

    • Folk Arts COVID-19 Relief Fund (New York City) - The Center for Art, Tradition and Cultural Heritage (CATCH) is awarding grants of $500 to folk, traditional and community-based artists impacted by Covid-19. Accepting applications in English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Haitian Creole, Chinese, and Portuguese.     • The Frederick Artist Relief Fund (Frederick, MD) - The Frederick Artist Relief Fund will award grants of $250-$500 to individual artists who live in Frederick County and whose creative practices and incomes are being adversely impacted by Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). This fund is for individual artists only, not organizations or nonprofits.

    • Freelance Audio Fund - The Freelance Audio Fund provides emergency relief to the professional audio community impacted by COVID-19.

    • Freelancer COVID-19 Emergency Fund - If you’re a creative freelancer who has been adversely affected by the COVID-19 virus and resulting public response, you can apply for temporary assistance through the fund. Currently closed, but policies will be reviewed and updated regularly.

    • Freelancers Union Freelancers Relief Fund - Freelancers Relief Fund will offer financial assistance of up to $1,000 per freelance household to cover lost income and essential expenses not covered by government relief programs, including food/food supplies; utility payments; cash assistance to cover income loss.

    • Futures Fund: Emergency Relief for Artists (St. Louis, MO) - The Luminary, in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, is offering immediate artist emergency grants totaling $60,000 for artists and arts organizers in the St. Louis region. First round of application currently closed. Second round will open on June 1. 

    • Garrie Vereen Memorial Emergency Relief Fund (Athens, GA) - Financial assistance available for full-time residents of Athens, GA who regularly work in the music and entertainment industry and whose income was directly impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak and quarantine.

    • Gimme Shelter Performers Emergency Fund (Oregon) - Offering grants of up to $500 to assist with rent or mortgage relief to performing artists who have lost wages due to the Novel Coronavirus/COVID-19. Applicants must reside in Oregon.


    • Greater Nashville Artist Relief Fund (Nashville, TN) - The Fund will be open to all artists at all levels of their careers, in a broad variety of disciplines, and will supply money help self-employed artists and artists employed/contracted by nonprofit arts and culture organizations in Greater Nashville recover from lost income due to the cancellation of scheduled gigs or opportunities (such as a commission, performance, contract, etc.), or due to layoff or furlough due to the March 3 tornados and/or COVID-19 precautionary measures. The first cycle of applications is now closed.

    • Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council (Greater Pittsburgh, PA) - The Emergency Fund for Artists will now provide up to $500 in assistance to artists experiencing loss of income due to the coronavirus outbreak. The Emergency Fund also remains available for other unforeseen emergencies that may impact your ability to work, such as flood, theft, or fire.

    • GKV Foundation Fund for Berkshire County Theater Professionals (Berkshire County, MA) - Through a partnership with the GKV Charitable Foundation, this fund is designed to assist theater professionals who live in Berkshire County who have lost income as a direct result of COVID-19 related cancellations and closures. They anticipate making a total of thirty $1,000 awards to Berkshire County theater professionals. Grant application closes on May 29.

    • Hillsborough Artists Relief Program (HARP) (Hillsborough County, FL) - The intent for this fund is to provide financial assistance to Hillsborough County artists who are temporarily unable to meet their basic needs (General, including food, utilities, bills, childcare), Housing (rent, mortgage), Healthcare (insurance, medical bills).

    • Houston Music Foundation (Houston, TX) - Houston Music Foundation is a crisis relief fund created to help the city’s musicians in times of need. The goal of Houston Music Foundation is to raise funds for local musicians residing in Harris County during times of crisis, and to get donations into the hands of those in need as quickly as possible. Qualified applicants are eligible for a one-time grant of $500. Current application cycle is closed. Next round of applications date will be announced shortly.

    • I Lost My Theatre Gigs - Individuals who have lost their gigs can share their stories on this website so they can be matched with donors. All professionals seeking help are verified by the organizers of the initiative.

    • ILYSM 4 Artists - ILYSM will be giving a weekly $500 grant to an artist with financial need whose main source of income has been affected by COVID-19 shutdowns. They are committing to offering this grant through the week of 6/11 and for as long as they are able to after that.

    • Indiana Music Industry Relief Fund (Indiana) - A relief fund for women-identifying and non-binary musicians, music industry professionals, non-profit music organizations, based in the state of Indiana that are affected by loss of work, cancellations, and loss of revenue due to COVID-19.

    • Indie Theater Fund Rapid Relief GRANTS due to Covid19 (New York City) - Rapid relief grants of up to $500 will be awarded to support the theater community, prioritizing the consortium of companies, venues, and individuals working in NYC independent theater (Off-Off-Broadway in theater houses of 99 seats or less), operating with budgets under $250,000.

    • Indy Arts COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund (Indiana) - The Indy Arts & Culture COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund was created for individuals working in the arts sector and impacted by the current public health crisis. Primary concern is for the health and well being of individuals: specifically independent artists and staff working for small-to-midsize nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. This fund will provide rapid response $500 grants to help bridge the severe lost wages that make many in our creative community vulnerable.

    • Iowa Arts & Culture Emergency Relief Fund (Iowa) - Grants of $1,000 will be awarded to eligible individual artist applicants. Grant funds provide financial relief to Iowa’s creative workers and organizations who have experienced a loss of opportunity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds are awarded as general operating support to Iowa artists and organizations and may be used at the discretion of the grant recipient. Applications currently closed.

    • LA Dance Emergency Fund (Los Angeles, CA) - LA Dance Emergency Fund provides emergency relief to LA dancers and dance companies facing financial hardship caused by Greater Los Angeles dance performances/events cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants can receive up to $500 with submission of appropriate application materials until MARCH 31st, 2020. Applications currently closed.

    • LA Young Creatives Fund (Los Angeles, CA) - In partnership with the Snap Foundation, MAF established the LA Young Creatives Fund to offer financial support to members of the creative economy whose work has been impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. LA County residents who work in creative fields may be eligible to receive a $500 grant to help cover any pressing financial needs. Waitlist only at this point. 

    • leveler: peer to peer wealth distribution - leveler is a tool for people with job security to help people whose work status has been impacted by COVID-19. The list includes freelancers, service industry, and gig economy workers. Click the "receive" button if you're seeking assistance.

    • Live From Our Living Rooms - An online music festival and fundraiser where all proceeds will provide performance grants to New York City musicians whose freelance careers have been impacted by COVID-19. Applications currently closed.

    • Local 47 COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund (Los Angeles, CA) - The Local 47 COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund will be able to extend a limited amount of grants for members who work for employers covered by a Live Performance or Electronic Media Local 47 contract or CBA.

    • Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) Emergency Grants (Maryland) - To be eligible for MSAC Emergency Grants, the artist must submit proof of ineligibility for Unemployment Insurance (UI) or proof that they have either exhausted UI benefits, (including Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance) or that UI benefits do not fully cover losses sustained as a result of the Governor’s declared State of Emergency in relationship to COVID-19.

    • Mecklenburg Creatives Resiliency Fund (Mecklenburg County, NC) - The Mecklenburg Creatives Resiliency Fund helps creative practitioners in Mecklenburg County recover from personal emergencies by helping pay an unanticipated, emergency expense or by augmenting lost income due to the cancellation of a specific, scheduled gig or opportunity (i.e. commissions, performances, contracts) due to Coronavirus/COVID-19 precautionary measures. ASC will provide flat $500 awards to applicants meeting the fund criteria as long as funding is available.

    • MHA COVID-19/Tornado Relief Grant (Nashville, TN) - Grants will provide emergency financial assistance to music professionals who have been negatively impacted by the Nashville Tornados and/or the COVID-19 public health crisis. Emergency financial assistance is available for people who are unable to pay their basic living expenses (food/housing/health care) over the next two months.

    • Music Export Memphis COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund (Memphis, TN) - The fund is available to applicants in the Greater Memphis Area, which includes metro-area towns in Arkansas and North Mississippi. Applicants must work in music in Memphis and be able to prove lost income from performances or jobs in Memphis. The fund is also available to non-artist applicants working in live music industry roles, including talent buyers/booking agents, managers, and live event crew (i.e.: lighting, sound, instrument techs).     • New Haven Creates Relief Fund (New Haven, CT) - The New Haven Creative Sector Relief Fund will distribute immediate financial assistance to individual creatives and arts institutions most impacted by the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). Applicants can apply on a rolling basis to receive up to $1,000 based on their financial situation, with a priority for low-income individuals and small-budget arts organizations. Applications will be reviewed weekly and payments sent 2 days after review.

    • New Music Solidarity Fund - The New Music Solidarity Fund is designed to help new/creative/improvised music freelancers whose livelihood has been threatened as a result of performances that have been canceled during the COVID-19 crisis. Not accepting any further applications at this stage.

    • New Orleans Business Alliance Relief Fund for Gig Workers (New Orleans, LA) - As a result of the anticipated local economic impact of COVID-19, the New Orleans Business Alliance (NOLABA) is standing up a relief fund to meet the needs of gig economy workers who have been directly impacted via loss of income. Temporarily suspended the acceptance of new applications. Please check back for future updates.

    • New Orleans Creative Response (New Orleans, LA) - To qualify, you must: be a practicing artist of any discipline (culture bearer, filmmaker, painter, performer, photographer, sculptor, writer, etc); have lived and worked in the greater New Orleans metro area for at least 12 months; have been impacted as result of the pandemic, and need funds to cover necessary living expenses such as food, housing, utilities, medical costs, or family care.

    • Newport Festivals Musician Relief Fund (Rhode Island) - Financial relief for musicians in the Folk & Jazz communities experiencing lost income as a result of COVID-19. To qualify, musicians must have experienced lost income from a performance or gig cancellation related to COVID-19. Their focus and priority will be on musicians who have played the Newport Jazz or Folk Festivals and those in the Rhode Island community. All other applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

    • Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) Quick Turn Around Grants (Northwest Minnesota) - The NWMAC is currently awarding Quick Turn Around grants for COVID-19-related relief for artists in northwest Minnesota. These grants are for $500 for missed gigs and income due to the pandemic. Performing artists, writers, media artists, fine craft artists, and visual artists can apply if they are a permanent resident of the seven county service area of Northwest Minnesota.

    • NYC Low-Income Artist/Freelancer Relief Fund (New York City) - Provides support for low-income, BIPOC, trans/GNC/NB/Queer artists and freelancers whose livelihoods are being effected by this pandemic in NYC.     • NYC Small Business Services: Assistance & Guidance for Businesses Impacted Due to Novel Coronavirus (New York City) - The City will provide relief for small businesses across the City seeing a reduction in revenue because of COVID-19. Businesses with fewer than 100 employees who have seen sales decreases of 25% or more will be eligible for zero interest loans of up to $75,000 to help mitigate losses in profit. The City is also offering small businesses with fewer than 5 employees a grant to cover 40% of payroll costs for two months to help retain employees.

    • Orange County Arts Support Fund (Orange County, NC) - This is a money-in, money-out fund. The maximum grant that can be provided to one individual at this time is $600. Current application cycle closed. 

    • Philadelphia Performing Artists' Emergency Fund (Philadelphia, PA) - The Philadelphia Performing Artists' Emergency Fund was created amid the COVID-19 outbreak to assist performing artists whose income has been impacted by show cancellations, slowing ticket sales, and/or low turnout during this pandemic. Emergency Funds can be requested by any Cabaret, Drag, Burlesque, Theater, or performance artists facing a financial hardship caused by COVID-19. Temporarily closing the application due to lack of funds.

    • Philadelphia Writers Emergency Fund (Philadelphia, PA) - A donation-based resource to provide aid to writers, independent booksellers, and those who work at independent presses that have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. No longer accepting applications until more funds become available. 

    • Pillars Rapid Response Fund - A fund to support the personal expenses of Muslim artists and activists whose livelihoods are being negatively impacted by this current moment. $500 grants will be given to individuals through a short application process. Temporarily closed.

    • Pitt County Arts Relief Fund (Pitt County, NC) - The Arts Relief Fund has been created to support creative individuals and organizations in Pitt County who have been financially impacted by the outbreak of COVID-19.

    • Poets & Writers COVID-19 Relief Fund - Provides emergency assistance to writers having difficulty meeting their basic needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund will provide grants of up to $1,000 to an initial cohort of approximately eighty writers in April. If they are able to secure additional funds, they will provide another round of funding. Applicants must be listed in the Poets & Writers Directory as of April 10, 2020; or have received a mini-grant from their Readings & Workshops program; or have received one of the following awards or fellowships sponsored by Poets & Writers: Amy Award, Maureen Egen Writers Exchange Award, Barnes & Noble Writers for Writers Award, and Galen Williams Fellowship. The current application window is closed.

    • Portland Area Artist Relief (Portland Area, OR) - This fund is currently for freelance/independent artists residing in the Portland tri-county area only. The counties are Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington. This fund is not for arts organizations or nonprofits. Applications paused temporarily. 

    • The Portland Artists Relief Fund (Portland, ME) - The Portland Artists Relief Fund was created to help artists in Portland, Maine recover from income loss and personal emergencies by awarding small grants for unanticipated financial hardship during the Covid-19 pandemic. Local artists who are able to complete the requirement checklist for eligibility will be able to apply via Google Form for a $500 cash stipend to help make ends meet due to cancelled work that was previously scheduled and/or lost. Cycle 1 currently closed. Stay tuned for Cycle 2.

    • Propeller IMPACT Fund 2020 (Chicago, IL) - Open to artists in the Illinois counties of Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaPorte, McHenry & Will with a practice grounded in the visual arts, Propeller Impact Fund will distribute $500 unrestricted, one-time grants over four rounds of applications. The $500 grants are disbursed the month following each application deadline. A total amount of $56,000 will be disbursed over the four rounds. Applications now closed. Please apply during the next open cycle.

    • Queer Writers of Color Relief Fund - This fund is to help queer writers of color who have been financially impacted by the current COVID-19. Priority will be given to queer trans women of color and queer disabled writers of color.

    • RACC Emergency Artist Relief Fund (Portland, OR) - RACC’s Emergency Fund for Individual Artists supports creative professionals who have experienced a financial loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund is open to artists at all levels of their careers, in a broad variety of disciplines. Applicants will be asked to submit evidence of their artistic practice, household income, and financial loss in the application. RACC will make awards up to $500 in order to support as many individual artists as possible, prioritizing those without access to other COVID-19 relief funds. Applicants must legally reside in RACC’s service area – Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties, Oregon.



    • Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis Artist Relief Fund (St. Louis, MO) - The Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis Artist Relief Fund will award grants of $500 or $1,000 to working artists who live in St. Louis City or St. Louis County whose immediate creative practices and incomes are being adversely impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. The RAC Artist Relief Fund is not currently taking applications. Applications will reopen once sufficient funds are received. 

    • Rhode Island Artist Relief Fund (Rhode Island) - The Rhode Island Artist Relief Fund will award grants of up to $1,000 to help artists, teaching artists, arts administrators and other freelance arts and culture workers stay housed, fed, and safe in this time. Applicant must be a Rhode Island resident for at least one year and remain be a resident upon receipt of any grant funding. Temporarily closing applications to the fund.

    • Rocket Relief Fund (Kansas City, MO) - Beginning May 1, ten eligible artists will be randomly selected each week to receive benefits until the funds are distributed. Applications may continue to be submitted and eligible applicants will be added to the pool until funds are distributed. Eligible artists must be within an 80-mile radius of Kansas City.

    • The Safety Net Fund (Bay Area, CA) - The Safety Net Fund is a non-profit designed to help support artists in the Bay Area during the COVID-19 crisis.

    • Season of Concern Chicago (Chicago, IL) - Season of Concern Chicago offers emergency assistance for any member of the Chicago theater community who is dealing with serious medical issues, including those that may result from COVID-19 infection. Proof of testing positive for the virus is required.


    • Seattle Foundation COVID-19 Response Fund (Puget Region in Washington State) - Hosted by Seattle Foundation, the COVID-19 Response Fund will provide flexible resources to organizations working with communities who are disproportionately impacted by coronavirus and the economic consequences of the outbreak. The Fund is designed to complement the work of public health officials and expand local capacity to address all aspects of the outbreak as efficiently as possible.

    • Singapore Unbound Relief Fund (SURF) - Creative writers, whether they are Singapore citizens living anywhere in the world or Permanent Residents of Singapore, may apply for a USD200/SGD280 grant from SURF with no strings attached. This fund is specifically intended to help those in dire need of immediate help.

    • Seattle Recovery Package (Seattle, WA) - The initial support package is broken down into five components: Deferral of B&O Taxes; Assistance to Access SBA Loans; Expansion of Small Business Stabilization Fund; Relief for Utility Payments; and New Small Business Recovery Task Force. 

    • SoundGirls CoronaVirus Relief - The SoundGirls CoronaVirus Relief Fund helps production techs across the globe that are now unemployed due to the CoronaVirus Pandemic by providing a small amount of aid to purchase necessities and slightly ease the stress.

    • Southern Exposure Emergency Relief Fund (Bay Area, CA) - Southern Exposure, in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, is allocating a total of $60,000 to support Bay Area working artists in need right now. Sixty grants of $1,000 each will be made available to visual and multidisciplinary artists. Funds may be used to cover any needed expenses.

    • Spokane Artists & Creatives Emergency Fund (Spokane, WA) - All disciplines and types of artists/creatives in Spokane that need support during this time can fill out a basic online form, which asks a basic series of questions about how you are being affected by COVID-19 and what support is necessary.

    • A Sustaining Arts Practice Fund (ASAP Fund) (Missouri & Illinois) - Organized by the Sam Fox School and the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, A Sustaining Arts Practice Fund (ASAP Fund) will be distributing fifty $2,000 grants to practicing artists, architects, and designers who face significant financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grant recipients must live in the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, Jefferson County, or St. Charles County in Missouri, or in Madison County or St. Clair County in Illinois. Deadline: May 29, 2020.

    • Theater Community Benevolent Fund (Boston, MA) - Acknowledging the high potential of unexpected need within Boston’s theatre community during these unprecedented times, TCBF will begin to review all COVID-19-related applications to the Fund on a weekly basis.

    • The Theater Offensive (TTO) COVID-19 Relief Fund for QTPOC Artists and Youth (Boston, MA) - In response to the COVID-19 crisis, The Theater Offensive has established a fund to provide temporary financial relief to QTPOC performing artists and youth in the Boston area affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. A limited number of rapid grants of up to $200 will be made to qualifying applicants weekly until funds are exhausted.

    • Theatre Philadelphia Emergency Relief (Philadelphia, PA) - Theatre Philadelphia Emergency Relief will award micro-grants of $300 to individuals who live in the Philadelphia region, work in theatre, and whose theatre income has been impacted by COVID-19. Individuals who live within a 35-mile radius of Philadelphia's City Hall are eligible to apply. Micro-grants are first-come-first-serve.

    • Torrington Collective NWCT Artist Emergency Relief Fund (Northwest Connecticut) - This is an emergency fund created by the Torrington Collective for artists and creatives in the Northwest Connecticut community that are in need of support. All funds will go directly to artists in need in the form of micro-grants of $100.

    • Treefort Live Music Relief Fund (Boise, ID) - Treefort Live Music Relief Fund will offer support for local artists, musicians, audio + lighting engineers, techs, tour managers, production managers and others in the live music industry. Must be a resident of greater Boise area for the past two years and able to demonstrate proof of work lost due to COVID-19 related cancellations.

    • TrickleUp - An artists helping artists network. With 10,000 subscribers at $10 a month, they can give $10,000 to 10 different artists affected by the Covid-19 cancelations. And every month 10 new artists in need will get $10,000. If the goal is surpassed, more people will get help.

    • The Tri-State Relief Fund to Support Non-Salaried Workers in the Visual Arts (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) - The Tri-State Relief Fund to Support Non-Salaried Workers in the Visual Arts will distribute one-time unrestricted cash grants of $2,000 each to freelance, contract, or non-salaried archivists, art handlers, artist/photographer’s assistants, cataloguers, database specialists, digital assets specialists, image scanners/digitizers, and registrars. Applications will be accepted over three cycles starting Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

    • Twenty Summers Emergency Arts Fund - An Emergency Arts Fund for artists (up to $500) and arts organizations (up to $1k) suffering from unexpected and unmanageable financial loss as a result of the Coronavirus.


    • UNTITLED, ART Emergency Fund (Bay Area, CA) - UNTITLED, ART have expanded the qualifications for the UNTITLED, ART Emergency Fund to include financial assistance for freelance, hourly, and wage working artists vulnerable to the economic standstill.


    • What the Fund - Grant program to benefit select artists who are being impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Grant recipients will be chosen by a board of fellow creators. Patreon is kicking off the grant by donating $10K, and is accepting contributions from anyone who can help. Round one of applications is currently closed.

    • Wherewithal Grants (Washington, DC) - In March 2020, The Warhol Foundation authorized its re-granting partners to re-allocate their $100,000 grants to create and administer COVID-19 emergency relief funds in their communities. Through Erie Arts & Culture's newly formed Emergency Financial Assistance Fund, creative and cultural professionals, which includes artists of all disciplines, who have experienced a disruption to their income stream can request up to $500 in assistance from Erie Arts & Culture. Awarded funds can be used to assist with basic living expenses, such as housing, utilities, or groceries. The objective is to provide financial support in moments of crisis to those in the sector who are experiencing financial hardship.

Distress Services are intended for activists and culture workers in situations of distress as a result of their professional work. Distress situations may include verbal threats, imprisonment or legal persecution, violent attack, professional or social exclusion, or harassment. Martha Kate Thomas Fund for Artists

The Martha Kate Thomas Fund for Artists was established in 2013 through a legacy gift to the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County. Grants from this fund will be awarded to artists who live or work in Boulder County and meet any one or more of these priority groups: artists with unforeseen needs due to special circumstances, Artists of Color, artists with disabilities, Indigenous artists, New generation artists (18-30 years old). Grant awards will not exceed $3000. The Pollock-Krasner Foundation

The Pollock-Krasner Foundation's dual criteria for grants are recognizable artistic merit and financial need. The Foundation's mission is to aid individuals who have worked as professional artists over a significant period of time.

 

Springboard Emergency Relief Fund - Minnesota 

Springboard’s Emergency Relief Fund exists to help meet the emergency needs of artists living in Minnesota who are in need of immediate monies to cover an expense due to loss from fire, theft, health emergency, or other catastrophic, career-threatening event. Artists may apply for up to $500. Payment is made directly to the creditor, not the artist. 
As part of their response to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, they have expanded the guidelines to include lost income due to the cancellation of a specific, scheduled gig or opportunity (i.e. commissions, performances, contracts) due to Coronavirus/COVID-19 precautionary measures. Artists can request up to $500 to compensate for canceled work that was scheduled and lost. At this time the fund is not available to compensate for future gigs or potential loss of business. Springboard for the Arts has committed an additional $10,000 from their budget to support this effort and is committed to working with partners to increase the fund based on demand.

Tamarack Foundation Emergency Relief Program

If you are an artist that has been directly affected by a significant disaster such as flood, fire, or emergency medical needs, you may be eligible for the Tamarack Emergency Relief Program. The foundation offers grants and bridge loans of up to $5,000 for artist businesses on a rolling basis to help with these events. These funds are available to artists juried into the Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia retail facility in Beckley, WV.

American Poets Fund 

The fund assists poets of demonstrated ability who are in a state of urgent financial need. Grants cannot be used to promote or otherwise enhance literary talent or reputation, and applications are not accepted. Academy Chancellors, Fellows, and prize winners must bring the circumstances of qualifying poets to the attention of the American Poets Fund committee by sending a letter of nomination, including specifics about the nominee's current financial situation, to the Executive Director of the Academy.

 

American Society of Journalists & Authors 

The mission of the Writers Emergency Assistance Fund is to help established freelance writers who, because of advanced age, illness, disability, a natural disaster, or an extraordinary professional crisis are unable to work. A writer need not be a member of ASJA to qualify for a grant. However, applicants must establish a record of past professional freelance nonfiction writing over a sustained period of years, which means qualifications generally similar to those of ASJA members. WEAF does not award grants to beginning freelancers seeking funding for writing projects, nor does it fund works-in-progress of any kind.

The fund helps professional science fiction, fantasy, horror, and mystery writers living in the Pacific Northwest states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska deal with the financial burden of medical expenses. The fund generally follows the standards of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) for Active or Associate membership in determining professional status.

Human Rights/Hellman-Hammett Grants 

Human Rights Watch administers the Hellman/Hammett grant program for writers who have been victims of political persecution and are in financial need. Hellman/Hammett grants typically range from $1,000 to a maximum of $10,000. The grants are awarded annually after the nominations have been reviewed by a selection committee composed of authors, editors, and journalists who have a longstanding interest in free expression issues. Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Emergency Fund

The SCBWI Emergency Fund has been established to provide assistance to SCBWI members of at least six months’ standing in times of emergency or hardship. The Motion Picture Players Welfare Fund serves SAG-AFTRA members in the New York region and all Locals East of Omaha, Nebraska. The Lester Petrillo Memorial Fund for Disabled Musicians provides a modest grant to temporarily or permanently disabled musicians who are members of the AFM.

American Guild of Musical Artists Relief Fund

The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) Relief Fund provides support and temporary financial assistance to members who are in need. AGMA contracts with The Actors Fund to administer this program nationally as well as to provide comprehensive social services. Financial assistance is available for rent, utilities, mental health and medical care, as well as other basic living expenses. Grants are made case-by-case, based on need. Through March 31, due to the devastating toll COVID-19 has taken on their members, the AGMA Relief Fund will temporarily double the cap of financial assistance available to AGMA members in need.

Bluegrass Trust Fund

If you are or have been a professional in the business of bluegrass and are in a time of emergency need, you may apply here for assistance from the Bluegrass Trust Fund. Each request for assistance is judged on its own merits and should demonstrate a financial emergency or circumstance involving dire need. There is no limit to the amount an applicant may request, but grants have generally ranged from $500.00 to $5000.00.

Blues Foundation HART Fund

The Blues Foundation has established the HART Fund (Handy Artists Relief Trust) for Blues musicians and their families in financial need due to a broad range of health concerns. The Fund provides for acute, chronic and preventive medical and dental care as well as funeral and burial expenses.

California Jazz Foundation

To request a Financial Assistance Application or an Emergency Medical Referral, applicant must show at least 5 years of primary employment as a jazz artist and California residency.  

Gospel Music Trust Fund

The Purpose of the Gospel Music Trust Fund is to give financial assistance in the nature of gifts in time of need, in the event of an emergency or major catastrophe, terminal or severe illness without efficient insurance, to individuals who derive or have derived a substantial portion of their income from the field of gospel music. An individual requesting assistance within the purpose of the Trust Fund, for themselves or their children must have ten years of full-time employment within the Gospel/Christian music field.

 

Grand Ole Opry Trust Fund 

The Opry Trust Fund provides financial assistance in time of extraordinary need, emergency or catastrophe to individuals who are or have been employed full time in a facet of the country music industry (i.e. performer, songwriter, publisher, radio, session musician, etc.). Examples of distribution needs include: medical bills, living expenses, rent or mortgage, and utilities. The Opry Trust Fund accepts referrals from individuals within the country music community, including Opry members, as well as from other charitable organizations, such as MusiCares and the Performers Benefit Fund.

The Local 802 Musicians’ Emergency Relief Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) administered by the Musicians’ Assistance Program (MAP). A New York State licensed social worker provides confidential social services to members and their families. It is funded by the Musicians’ ERF and administered by the Actors Fund.

The Emergency Assistance Program provides interim financial assistance to qualified artists whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. An applicant must be able to demonstrate a minimum involvement of ten years in a mature phase of his or her work in the disciplines of painting, sculpture or printmaking.
