Description

TITLE: Director of Technology DEPARTMENT: Technology REPORTS TO: Executive Director STATUS: Full-time permanent The Director of Technology oversees all aspects of software development, technology project management, infrastructure development and IT vendors and consultants for the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), a nonprofit arts service organization that supports artists nationwide through professional development, grants, fiscal sponsorship and online resources. The Director of Technology is part of NYFA’s senior leadership, reports to NYFA’s Executive Director and would work closely with all program areas and NYFA’s board of directors to build digital tools in support of NYFA’s mission and service delivery operations. Key Responsibilities: • Develop a strategic plan and roadmap for NYFA’s digital platform which encompasses NYFA’s core services and program areas (fiscal sponsorship, classifieds, development, finance, grants and learning) and integrates with existing productivity tools • Define the roadmap to help internal teams deliver on their objectives and collaborate with board committees to plan long term objectives and resource needs • Lead a diverse team of experts and external partners to support all of NYFA’s departments achieve their goals by leveraging the right technology and digital tools • Oversee and manage NYFA’s IT infrastructure and development. Communicate strategy to staff and leadership to ensure alignment • Define, direct and manage software development projects for NYFA’s website, classifieds and internal tools • Provide strong leadership to technology staff and the organization on best practices for process improvement, business solutions and growth models • Develop and lead a data strategy for NYFA which includes platforms (e.g., CRM), environments and resources • Oversee daily operations for IT-related services, including end user technologies and IT service management to ensure business continuity and information security • Prioritize maintenance and improvement of IT infrastructure and capabilities in an efficient and cost-effective manner • Monitor, manage and ultimately prevent service failures and/or degradation • Lead, mentor and enhance the IT team to ensure related services scale and support growth in existing and future organizational initiatives • Maintain ongoing knowledge of industry trends and use that knowledge to determine the most efficient ways to meet business needs • Manage vendors, consultants and overall budget for IT • Take ownership of IT and data security across the organization and lead IT related compliance • Act as project lead for the implementation of all new web applications. Lead the planning of all IT projects. Communicate and advise key stakeholders on project progress • Collaborate with others to define business needs and opportunities for process implementation and integration Qualifications: • Must have a proven track record of successful software launches, particularly web applications. Must have a successful record of managing highly productive teams • At least 10+ years of experience managing software projects and cross functional resources • Must have experience in product management. UX and QA • Minimum of 5+ years in a leadership role managing and mentoring IT professionals • Excellent analytical skills • You must be a self-starter, motivator and team builder; someone who enjoys creative problem solving with limited resources • Demonstrated ability leading cross functional teams and building solid business cases and solutions • Strong written and communication skills. Comfortable communicating at every organizational level, with significant experience communicating to senior leadership • Prior experience implementing, using and leveraging outsourcing strategies • Excellent ability multi-tasking and managing multiple projects and initiatives at once • Practical knowledge of software architecture and building technology stacks • Excellent knowledge of web development technologies is a major plus • Experience with DevOps, .NET, AWS or other cloud computing platforms is a plus #LI-DNI
