Social | #ArtistHotline: November 15 Artist Professional Development Day

Gain a new vantage point on your arts career with #ArtistHotline this Wednesday. Use the hashtag to tweet with us from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST!

In the spirit of the season, what are you thankful for in your arts career? Perhaps you’ve just completed an inspiring and productive residency, received some invaluable advice from a fellow artist working in your discipline, or you’ve been able to cultivate a strong community on which you can rely.

#ArtistHotline, a monthly Artist’s Professional Development Day on Twitter, was inspired by all the ways in which artists, arts professionals, and cultural organizations can support one another. This Twitter chat, which takes place on the third Wednesday of each month, is dedicated to creating an ongoing online conversation around building a sustainable career in the arts.

One driving principle of #ArtistHotline is that the arts community can see further, and gain new perspectives, through dialogue and resource-sharing. Want to participate yourself? Join us via Twitter for this dynamic day of professional development. Preview the full schedule and learn how to tweet with us below.

Schedule for the Day

  • 11:00 AM EST: #ArtistHotline begins, starting with an Open Chat! NYFA staff and partnering organizations will be online to field arts career questions and share advice. Use this time to ask questions on any professional development topic, from project budgets to pop-up space logistics
  • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM EST: During the “Strategies for Mid-Career Artists” Guest Chat, we’ll hear from guests Ella Boureau, writer and Awards Administrator at Lambda Literary, and James Everett Stanley, painter and Visual Arts Coordinator at Fine Arts Work Center.
  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST: NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship Application Tips” Staff Q&A with NYFA Program Officer Gabriella Calandro. Calandro will answer questions about the application process for this $7,000 unrestricted cash award opportunity for artists and writers in New York State.
