Statement | NYFA’s Response to Hate Crimes Against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

We stand in solidarity with Asian American and Pacific Islander communities nationwide, and against those who have perpetrated racially-motivated physical, verbal, and mental attacks against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Xenophobia, bigotry, and discrimination of any kind are unacceptable, as are systemic racism, white supremacy, and the power structures that protect and support them. While there is no one way to comprehend and navigate these issues, the arts can help to provide solace, increase understanding, and further our humanity in ways that few other forms can.
