COMPENSATION
$60,000 - $75,000 per annum depending on experience, 40 hours per week
Full-time, non-exempt with competitive benefits package. Benefits include health insurance (vision, dental, FSA), paid time off, and an employer-supported 401(k) retirement plan.
POSITION SUMMARY
Forge Project is looking to hire a Communications Coordinator to support public relations and communications projects that foreground Indigenous perspectives. The Communications Coordinator role at Forge Project is responsible for building media relationships, managing social-media channels, and maintaining Forge Project’s brand identity through strong graphic design across all departments at the organization. They will also support fundraising efforts and marketing campaigns to extend the reach of the organization. The ideal candidate will have two to three years experience in writing for a variety of platforms—including tribal newspapers and grassroots organizations, for example—building press relationships, and digital design, and looking to use or expand their skill set by making work in a variety of styles and mediums with a clear voice.
ABOUT FORGE PROJECT
Forge Project is a Native-led non-profit organization whose mandate is to cultivate and advance Indigenous leadership in arts and culture. We are guided by the leadership of the Indigenous Steering Council, the Board of Directors, Executive Director and Chief Curator Candice Hopkins (Citizen of Carcross/Tagish First Nation), and Director of Indigenous Programs and Relationality Sarah Biscarra Dilley (yaktitʸutitʸu yaktiłhini [Northern Chumash]).
LOCATION
This is a hybrid position, with flexible in-person schedule, located near Taghkanic, New York (not accessible by public transportation). Forge is located on the unceded, traditional and ancestral lands of the Moh-He-Con-Nuck, The Peoples of the Waters that Are Never Still. Today the Moh-He-Con-Nuck reside in Wisconsin and are known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. Further details on working conditions below.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE
A person who has writing, social media, and design experience and a passion for furthering social justice in the context of contemporary Native art and culture. An ideal candidate is comfortable communicating to multiple audiences, online and in-person. Someone who enjoys working as part of a team, in a responsive and collaborative environment, and is comfortable with both in-person and remote settings.
