Casey Kaplan Gallery is seeking a motivated, organized, and thoughtful candidate for a registration internship beginning in June 2025.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong interest in contemporary art, as well as learning about the inner workings of art registration and logistics. The candidate should possess strong organization skills as well as knowledge of Mac iOS and Microsoft Office.
The Registration Intern will work closely with the Registration team, supporting the following processes:
- Help maintain physical and digital documents for the registration department
- Learn how to create and update inventory records in the gallery’s database
- Learn how to generate professional condition reports for paintings, sculptures and works on paper, providing support throughout the process.
- Gain a general understanding of best practices for packing and shipping artworks, both domestically and internationally
- Provide general support and assistance to members of the registration and preparatory staff on a range of needs from framing to storage.
Interns will leave with a greater understanding of contemporary art logistics and the workings of a top-tier contemporary gallery in New York. The internship is supervised and managed by full-time gallery staff, who operate as a small, cooperative team, offering mentorship opportunities.
The intern will have direct contact with shipping agents, framers and represented artists. They will leave with a greater knowledge of contemporary art and the workings of a top tier contemporary gallery in New York.
Candidates who can commit to 1-2 days for a period of three months are preferred. Gallery hours are 10am–6pm, Mondays through Fridays. Daily lunch is provided.
