Gallery Assistant

Bortolami is seeking a media-savvy art-enthusiast to assist a Sales Director and manage the gallery’s digital marketing initiatives. The Gallery Assistant will report to the Sales Director, but will work collaboratively with all departments to manage timelines complete shared projects. The ideal candidate for this position will be detail-oriented, with experience managing multiple duties and tasks related to sales and digital marketing.


Digital Marketing / Social Media Responsibilities

- Maintain a calendar for all content for Instagram, email marketing campaigns, and web 4-6 weeks in advance

- Copywrite captions for Instagram, ensuring that the information is accurate and aligns with the brand voice - Post to and manage the Instagram account’s DMs, comments, tagged posts

- Collaborate across departments to gather relevant information and assets to support marketing and communications strategies

- Capture photo and video at events, openings and artist walkthroughs.

- Draft, design, and send email marketing campaigns for exhibitions, art fairs and events

- Upload exhibition photography, news and press to the website regularly


Sales Assistant Responsibilities

-Develop and maintain an understanding of all artists on the gallery program, and particularly the artists for which the Director is responsible.

-Work directly with artists alongside the Director to assist with ongoing and upcoming projects, exhibitions, both at the gallery and institutionally, and artwork production

-Track new and incoming artworks by relevant artists; following and occasionally helping to coordinate artwork production; maintaining and occasionally creating artwork records in ArtLogic for artworks of relevant artists

-Generating sales PDFs for the Director

-Regularly update artist CVs, sales PDFs, dossiers, and press packets

-Assist the Director with administrative matters, including scheduling, correspondence, travel, and other projects.

Additional Responsibilities

-Designing graphics for Instagram and Web

-Liaising with press contacts for photos and other digital assets -Assist with social media coordination for The Campus Upstate


Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree in an art related field

-Knowledge and interest in contemporary art

-Self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail

-Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite and ArtLogic

-Experience with the Adobe Suite, especially Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro, and content management software.

-Excellent time management, working independently and as part of a team


Position is full-time, on-site, with a 5 day a week schedule Tuesday – Saturday. Salary commensurate with experience and expertise.
