Non-Profit Gallery Assistant

Parent Company is hiring a part-time Gallery Assistant for our Lower East Side space. This is an exciting time as we prepare to move into the upstairs storefront above our current space this fall. 

The Gallery Assistant will work closely with the Director to support the non-profit, artist-run gallery. We’re looking for someone who’s a strong communicator, professional, and able to take initiative and work independently. Experience with fundraising, development, or grant writing is a plus. There’s room to grow in this role for the right person.

The ideal candidate is reliable, responsible, and genuinely interested in contemporary art. This is an hourly position at $20/hr. Regular gallery hours are listed below, with occasional evening events, installations, and deinstallations as needed.

Hours:

• Thursday: 11am - 6pm
• Friday: 3pm - 6pm
• Saturday: 11am - 6pm

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Open and close the gallery space
• Provide visitors with information about the gallery and exhibitions
• Maintain a clean, inviting gallery atmosphere
• Coordinate logistics around installation/deinstallation and photography
• Assist with receipt tracking and bookkeeping
• Support research projects for program development
• Help with social media as needed
• Assist with other gallery needs, including press inquiries, mock-ups, website updates, and art handling

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least 1 year of experience at an art gallery, art institution, or non-profit
• Proficiency with Adobe Suite preferred
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
