We are looking for Art History Instructors to join our NY team.
About ArtsClub: ArtsClub brings people together to learn about, discuss and create artwork. During ArtsClub's events, participants learn about notable artists (like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mark Rothko, Georgia O'Keeffe or Claude Monet) and create artworks inspired by their styles, using similar materials and techniques. Every lesson starts with a 20 minute introduction on the featured artist, taught by an Art History Instructor, followed by a 1 hour painting session taught by a Studio Art Instructor.
ArtsClub has hosted such events for a wide range of private groups and companies, including Peloton, LinkedIn, Levi's, Chanel, Tinder, Accenture, Airbnb, Expedia and many others. ArtsClub is headquartered in New York City and will be hosting pop-ups in DC, LA and Philly this summer.
Requirements of the position:
The Art History Instructor will be provided with the necessary materials to deliver each lesson (including notes and slides), but will need a sufficient background in art history in order to add their own perspective and answer questions from the participants. The instructor will be provided with the topic and notes in advance so they will have enough time to conduct any additional research necessary to prepare. Instructors will be compensated for their preparation time.
The exact timing of each lesson will vary, but will almost always fall within the time frame of Monday through Saturday from 5PM to 8:30PM.
Ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate has (or is working towards) an Art History Master's or PhD with a focus on Modern & Contemporary Art, has strong verbal communication skills and experience with public speaking. Must be available Friday nights and other weeknights.
Interested candidates should send their resume to Jackie Dropp -- [email protected]. Candidates will be considered on a rolling basis and are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
