An international Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery is seeking a Sales Director who will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the gallery.
Responsibilities:
-Oversee daily gallery operations
-Plan and coordinate gallery programming including exhibitions, art fairs, and events
-Manage relationships with artists, curators, art institutions and vendors
-Prepare and manage exhibition schedules, budgets, and timelines
-Travel as needed for art fairs
-Prepare and distribute various materials for the Gallery (press releases, artist bios, exhibition materials) and prepare primary and secondary market presentations
-Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and collectors
-Actively promote and sell artwork to clients
-Provide exceptional customer service and address client inquiries promptly
-Assist the President with private viewings, VIP events such as dinners and lunches, and client meetings
-Organize and keep track of all contacts of the Gallery
-Manage the Gallery's social media accounts
-Create and send daily and weekly newsletters and e-blasts
Requirements:
-Bachelor's or advanced degree, with evidence of academic or other intellectual distinction
-Thorough knowledge of secondary market and contemporary art auctions
-Minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience
-Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate ideas clearly
-Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) and Adobe Suite
-Sales experience
-Ability to work well under pressure
-Excellent writing skills
-Superior typing skills (65+ words per minute)
-Ability to anticipate needs and to behave proactively
-Ability to travel internationally
-Exemplary references and writing sample
Immediate start.
Position is full time, Monday to Friday with a rotating Saturday schedule.
$50,000-$60,000 commensurate with experience, plus commission structure for sales
