Summer/Fall Gallery Intern

Summary

Mendes Wood DM is seeking an intern to provide general administrative support to the gallery assistant registrars, and sales team.This part-time, on-site internship requires availability three full days per week, with potential for a Saturday needed. The role provides an overview of all aspects related to gallery operation, with mentorship, educational training, and professional development around the arts. 

Responsibilities 

• Assist with cataloguing the gallery library and managing book inventory
• Archive artwork images 
• Maintain physical and digital inventory for works at the gallery and storage spaces
• Work closely with preparators and provide assistance as needed
• Prepare for openings, supporting the Gallery Assistant with catering and events
• Review and sort of gallery mail
• Ensure the gallery space is consistently organized
• Attend gallery openings and other programming

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities 

• Time management and organization skills are essential 
• Attention to detail 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills  
• Proficiency working in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
• Experience handling art preferred

Mendes Wood DM was founded in São Paulo in 2010 by partners Felipe Dmab, Matthew Wood, and Pedro Mendes with the intent to exhibit international and Brazilian artists in a context conducive to critical dialogue and cross-pollination. Central to the gallery’s program is a concern for regional difference and individuation while fostering cosmopolitanism and collaboration.
