Director

Management is a young contemporary art gallery located in New York’s Chinatown. It has become known for a roster of exceptional artists and a program of conceptually rigorous, unconventional exhibitions. Management is looking to expand by adding two directors to its existing team of Owner and Gallery Manager.

If you are applying for this position, you have likely already worked for a big gallery and hated it. You know how to do sales and build relationships with clients, but have hit a growth ceiling where you currently are. Management does not have ceilings, only unbridled ambition for greatness. We are a small team that does everything in-house. You will have uncapped potential for growth in responsibilities, influence on programming, and compensation.

Responsibilities:

• Cultivate relationships with new clients and meet sales targets.
• Stewardship of the sales process from initiation to delivery/installation.
• Traveling to and selling at domestic and international art fairs.
• Provide input on all aspects of gallery operations and take responsibility for initiatives.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience in high-end art or luxury sales in a direct-to-client context.
• Demonstrable sales track record.
• Positive attitude and independent problem-solving skills.
• Resilience to stress and desire to do great things.

Desirables:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in art history.
• Proficiency in Adobe and Office products.
• Driver’s license.
• Good sense of humor.
