Position: Program Manager
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Hybrid (East Harlem & Brooklyn, with remote flexibility)
Compensation: $30/hour for 20 hours per week, with potential for increased hours
Position Summary
OMP is seeking a highly organized and mission-driven Program Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our music education programs. The Program Manager serves as a key liaison between families, faculty, and the broader administrative team—ensuring the smooth execution of programming and fostering a welcoming, inclusive community environment.
This role is instrumental in maintaining program integrity, coordinating logistics, and supporting both students and educators. The Program Manager will supervise the Program Assistant and work closely with the Executive Director to help shape and support the program’s goals and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Operations & Oversight
- Manage and implement weekly programming in collaboration with OMP staff and faculty.
- Oversee Saturday rehearsals in East Harlem, providing on-site support to students, families, and faculty.
- Maintain a structured, welcoming environment in shared community spaces.
Family & Faculty Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families, ensuring effective communication and responsive support.
- Conduct family meetings related to student attendance and participation.
- Draft and distribute family communications, including weekly emails during the program season and bi-weekly updates during the summer.
Events & Logistics
- Support the planning and execution of all program events, including recitals, concerts, and masterclasses.
- Coordinate schedules and logistics for additional programming tied to strategic partnerships.
Team Collaboration
- Supervise the Program Assistant and ensure alignment with OMP’s operational goals.
- Attend weekly staff meetings in person and contribute to ongoing program development.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or administrative team that align with the scope of this position.
Required Qualifications
- Strong alignment with OMP’s mission and values.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Creative problem-solver with sound judgment and conflict-resolution skills.
- Highly organized with strong time management and attention to detail.
- Experience with educational assessment and outcome tracking.
- Knowledge of classical music, music theory, instruments, and other musical genres.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and an understanding of equity in education.
- Professional background in music (performance, teaching, or industry-related).
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in strings or piano.
- Familiarity with music education methodologies (e.g., Orff, Kodály, Suzuki).
- Experience with academic calendars, enrollment, and student development tracking.
- Understanding of varied learning styles and instructional approaches.
- Experience in family engagement and community-building strategies.
