Receptionist

Two high profile galleries that share the first three floors of a six-story Upper East Side townhouse are looking for a Gallery Receptionist for immediate hire. This position is Monday through Friday from 10:00am – 5:00pm.

We are looking for a personable, efficient, and reliable candidate who is available to manage the front desk and represent both galleries to all interested parties that enter the gallery space.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitoring the lobby which houses works from both galleries.
• Answering questions from interested parties concerning artworks on display, where to locate different persons/galleries within the building, and upcoming events and art fairs.
• Regulating and sorting the daily mail and various shipments.
• Remaining alert to the flow of people through the front door, regulated by a buzzer and automatic locking mechanism.
• Occasional extended hours and weekends required.

Requirements:

• A friendly, personable, and open demeanor.
• Attention to detail.
• A high level of discretion.
• BA in Art History or a related field preferred.

This position is ideal for recent graduates looking to enter the fine art gallery field and grow their resume with an entry level position.
