Position Title: Licensing Executive – Merchandise & Marketing
Location: New York, NY (hybrid schedule)
Schedule: Full-Time. 3 in-person days each week at ARS’s office in Noho.
Start Date: July 2025
Compensation: Starts at $60,000

The Licensing Executive – Merchandise & Marketing will play a key role in the organization’s licensing programs, supporting both internal marketing efforts and external client relationships. This full-time hybrid position, based in New York City, involves handling licensing requests from museum stores, commercial brands, and publishers. The role also manages ARS’s digital communications, including email marketing, social media, and website content. Additionally, the executive will provide administrative support to senior leadership. We are seeking a person who is enterprising and excited, and looking to make this role their own.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Licensing
- Handle licensing requests for museum store, commercial brand, and editorial/publishing clients
- Develop style guides, decks, and other promotional materials for merchandise licensing team
- Conduct outreach to prospective clients and represent ARS at industry trade shows
Marketing/Communications
- Draft monthly e-newsletters for ARS clients and members highlighting recent projects and organizational news; maintain and organize database of email contacts in Constant Contact
- Oversee social media strategy (primarily Instagram) and draft content promoting ARS’s licensing programs
- Manage ARS’s web presence, including updating website with new licensed projects and advocacy initiatives, drafting blog posts and other content, and communicating with IT support to resolve any bugs or glitches,
Misc.
- Respond to general inquiries received by email or phone
- Provide guidance and training to clients and artists using ARS’s new licensing portal
- Assist President and Vice Presidents with administrative tasks, including drafting PowerPoint presentations and conducting research related to copyright
- Organize and maintain ARS’s digital filing systems
SKILLS
- Proficiency in WordPress
- Proficiency in AI and emerging technologies for asset creation
- Proficiency in Constant Contact
- Social media planning and posting (especially Instagram),
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Google Drive
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Enterprising and tenacious
- Bachelor’s degree in art history, fine art/ design, museum studies, marketing/communications or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing role at an arts or cultural organization and/or in licensing, marketing, or client relations
- Strong working knowledge of modern and contemporary art; familiarity with intellectual property or copyright a plus
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Comfortable representing the organization in public and client-facing settings
- Comfortable liaising with high profile artists and clients
