Small independent New York City-based publishing company that specializes in high-quality illustrated books in interior and furniture design, architecture, photography, art, and fashion is looking for an Editorial Assistant. The full-time position includes working closely with the core team—the Publisher/Editorial director and the Creative Director—on about 8-10 titles a year. From concept to publication, the Editorial Assistant is involved in the execution of every project and will also be in contact with the authors, photographers, copy editors, and freelancers involved in the individual titles. The Editorial Assistant is also responsible for securing photography licensing and. The job includes managing the company website and wholesale platforms, creating the indices, writing press releases, and doing press outreach. The candidate will register the titles with the Library of Congress, obtain bar codes, and ISBN numbers. The successful candidate is a creative thinker, a self-starter, a team player, and a high-energy individual with strong organization skills who is willing to pitch in and help in every aspect of the company—from setting up Zoom meetings to following through on orders, and attending gift shows. Candidate should also be familiar with Creative Suite, Word, work with the company’s digital mailing lists, and be the point person with our outside social media consultant. This is a position that offers the possibility of learning everything about publishing from the inception of a project to its publication and beyond.
