Paid vacation, sick time
We are looking for a part time frame fitter to work 3 to 4 days in our lively Greenpoint, Brooklyn frame shop. Our shop seeks to provide North Brooklyn with the highest quality conservation grade framing, and as such a fundamental sensitivity to craft is necessary. You will be required to cut glass, cut mats, hinge with all manner of archival grade hinging papers and adhesives, and above all else handle a wide variety of artworks with extreme care. We see many types of framed items, from priceless family heirlooms to historically significant works of art, and you will be expected to know or learn how to address the very specific needs of each piece. Ideally you will also have woodworking skills, and retail or customer service skills (particularly in the area of custom frame design) are also a plus. We are a small shop which means you will need to wear many hats, and you should feel comfortable and skilled at multitasking. Please visit our website for an overview of our history as well as a sense of the type of framing we provide. We offer competitive pay rates commensurate with your experience as well as paid vacation and sick time.
