ABOUT JACK
JACK centers voices that have been systematically excluded from experimental performing art spaces in NYC, particularly BIPOC artists, providing them space and resources to make art on their own terms.
Our mission is to fuel experiments in art and activism, collaborating with adventurous artists and our neighbors to bring about a more just and vibrant society. JACK was founded in 2012 by Alec Duffy, Mimi Lien and seven additional artists with the aim of creating a performing arts space that serves as a connection point for multiple communities. JACK plays a critical role in our cultural sector as a unique home for performance and civic engagement, where individuals from different backgrounds come together, create art, and speak their truths. JACK presents theater, music, and dance performances and hosts forums & town halls on issues of importance to our neighborhood. We primarily support early-career artists creating new work, providing them a home to experiment, develop their voices, and cultivate new audiences.
