The Williams Graduate Program in the History of Art seeks an ambitious, creative, and collaborative scholar, teacher, and administrator to work in support of one of the field's most recognized programs. Reporting to the director, this term position includes helping to deliver most aspects of the program's operations, including curriculum, admission, internships, and communications. This position works closely with the Clark, which hosts the program, and also works with other partners, including at Wiliams and beyond. The candidate may be required to teach a graduate course in their field, depending on curricular needs. We welcome applications in all fields of the history of art.

 

The successful candidate will be an outstanding scholar with a strong commitment to research and publication in their field. An excellent teacher and mentor, they must maintain an ongoing interest in current debates in the field of art history in the academy, the museum, and beyond. We welcome applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented in the field. Position is a one-year term position commencing on the candidate start date and concluding one calendar year from that start date.

 

Qualifications

 

A PhD in Art History, preferably completed by June 2025.

 

4 years (or less) of relevant post-doctoral work experience.

 

Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills, be comfortable working with all levels of administration, faculty, staff, and students.

 

Candidates should have excellent organizational skills and ability to successfully manage multiple projects with many moving parts simultaneously, and readiness to learn and work with office technologies.

Application items should include a cover letter detailing relevant experience and competencies as well as current scholarly interests. Please also supply two selections from publications (article, dissertation chapters, etc), and three confidential letters of recommendation.

 

We will begin to review applications on May 11, 2025 and will continue to accept new applications on a rolling basis thereafter until the search is complete.
