2025 Summer Camp Positions at TAC

Textile Arts Center Summer Camp welcomes children ages 5-14 to create within the world of contemporary and historical textiles in exciting week long programs! Each camp week features an in-depth project using fiber & textile techniques, with concepts drawn from textile exhibitions and local textile artists.

Textiles exist in nearly every aspect of our everyday lives and function in the world of utility as well as fine art & design. Learning about how something is made and the labor that goes into an object promotes appreciation of making and our ecological impacts. Textile Arts Center empowers youth to see themselves as the makers and innovators of the future and to continue a love of textiles long after summer camp is over.

TAC staffers are all working artists, designers, researchers, creative practitioners, trained and passionate about working with creative young people. We pride ourselves in creating a nurturing camp community with attention to each individual child while fostering an engaging group dynamic. Campers are sure to leave with incredible textiles, great friendships, and lasting memories.

Camp Counselor / Instructor Positions, Ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 & Tweens 11-14

• Supervisors: Summer Camp Co-Directors
• Employment Dates: Orientation: June 24, 25, 26 / Summer Camp: July 7 - August 22 (7 weeks)
• Hours: M-F 8:30-4pm (alternates weekly staying until 5)
• Compensation: $20/hr for summer employment & training

General Responsibilities: Responsible for daily supervision of campers & implementation of summer camp curriculum. It is the Counselor / Instructor’s duty to keep to the camp’s schedule and ensure that all children are safe and happy.

Specific Duties: Daily management of 12-20 campers with another Counselor / Instructor at Textile Arts Center and local parks. Primarily responsible for leading textile art classes, leading free-time/free-craft and organized play, and leading attendance at drop off and dismissal. Position also entails: occasional late stay, administering first aid or summoning emergency help as needed; maintaining group medical log; escorting campers to and from all activities and walkable field trips; on-going evaluation of programming by photographing work, updating lesson plans if needed, and other administrative tasks.

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. A background in youth education with strong classroom management skills, proactive, gives and takes direction well and always willing to help. Strong applicants are experienced in a creative classroom environment, with interest and knowledge in the arts, in particular textiles. CPR and First Aid certification is included in training.
