Part-Time Temporary Visitor Services Associate

Neue Galerie New York, a museum for German and Austrian art and design, is seeking a part-time Visitor Services Associate from June 2025 through January 2026. This public-facing position emphasizes exceptional hospitality. It encompasses the following main areas of oversight: admissions desk, coat check, membership desk, phone support, and additional support for programs as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Warmly and proactively welcome and engage all museum visitors
• Effectively communicate programming information, clarify museum policies, help resolve concerns and provide general customer care
• Accurately report each day's events to managers and supervisors; escalate guest concerns to management when appropriate
• Sell admission and memberships
• Distribute and restock brochures
• Assist with audio tour downloads
• Check coats quickly and accurately; collect, store, and return checked items
• Support daily operations in close collaboration with other departments
• Render support during events and programs such as guest check-in, space set-up
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Work Schedule:

Wednesday-Monday, from 9:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., with a commitment of 3 days a week. Weekend and holiday availability is required; availability to work evening exhibition opening receptions two to three times per year is required. Must have flexibility to work other special events before or after museum hours, and complete all mandatory training.

Qualifications:

• Efficiency in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive communication
• Excellent time management
• Strong interest in the museum visitor experience
• Background/interest in art and design history preferred
• Proficiency in a foreign language a plus; German or Spanish preferred
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Compensation:

Hourly rate of $21, 403(b) plan, shop and café discounts, complimentary access to cultural institutions.
