Description
The Production and Editorial Specialist will assist in the administration, fact-checking, and digital publication of cataloguing for artworks that have been examined by the WPI's artist committees. Working in both French and English, they will be expected to cultivate high-level expertise in the WPI's database and style guide; maintain a broad-yet-detailed familiarity with all current projects; and help facilitate the project's success according to WPI's requirements for digital publication. The job will require working closely with the Data Assets and Metadata Manager, as well as the project leads for all WPI catalogue raisonné projects.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Create a strategy with the project manager of each artist committee to process and publish a backlog of cataloguing for artworks that has yet to be published online.
- Prepare artwork cataloguing for publication after works have been approved by each expert committee. This will require light fact-checking, editing, and digital production skills.
- Maintain smooth communication with staff in France
- Write documentation for project-specific workflows and edge cases.
Qualifications
- Strong background in art historical cataloguing and editorial production
- Fluency in French desirable
- High level of proficiency with relational databases and enthusiasm for digital projects
- Excellent editorial, organizational, and communication skills
- Capacity to execute tasks with accuracy, consistency, and meticulous attention to detail
- Collaborative spirit and flexibility with regard to pivoting to the needs of the project as it progresses
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload, to execute multiple tasks with time constraints, and to work independently
- Prior experience working in a publications department or on a catalogues raisonné desirable
