MANAGER OF DEVELOPMENT (FT/NON-EXEMPT)
Coordinate the organization’s fundraising activities with a focus on Individual Giving. Especially
provide support to the Leadership Cohort in their efforts to develop creative and new fundraising
strategies, strengthen Performance Space’s profile and attract new donors, and cultivate and retain
individual donors through dynamic events, outreach and storytelling.
Individual Donors & Board Members
• Manage, help ideate, and conceive annual giving campaigns, including timelines, solicitors,
mailings, and acknowledgements.
• Track and ensure donor data is captured in the database in an ongoing and timely manner,
ensuring donors remain engaged.
• Collaborate with the Senior Director to brainstorm and develop new giving prospects and
ways of attracting them.
• Develop donor newsletters and dynamic communications.
• Manage Board member give and get cycle.
• Manage and prepare board meetings and retreats. Take minutes, make presentations, and
compile board packets for Board meetings.
• Assure communication with all board members is active, in particular assist Senior Director
in maintaining active and collaborative relationships with board members.
• Manage the individual giving circle (“Visionairies”)
• Prepare key solicitors (Leadership Cohort and/or Board Members) for cultivation and
stewardship calls and meetings.
• Consult with programming and communications staff members to get updates, statistics, and
anecdotes for compelling donor solicitations.
• Coordinate and cultivate relationships with individual donors.
• Ensure funding and restrictions requirements are communicated to the finance department.
• Manage donor acknowledgment for all individual support.
• Schedule regular meetings with prospects, donors, and board members for the Leadership
Cohort.
• Handle mail and ensure all paperwork from government or foundations is backed up and
managed.
• Research donor prospects.
• Update and manage all donor walls.
• Lead weekly cultivation strategy meetings.
• Manage eblast communications for Artistic Directors / Leadership Cohort with donors and
artists.
Event Management
• Manage guest lists and RSVPs for all cultivation events.
• Work with Senior Director and board chair to schedule a calendar of events related to PSNY
programming.
• Produce cultivation events (15-20 a year), coordinating with food vendors, chefs, and artists.
• Manage the cultivation events budget.
• Design and send invites.
• Maintain and update the main contact sheet for all events.
• Hire and staff cultivation events in consultation with Associate Production Manager and
Audience Services Manager.
• Consult with Associate Production Manager, Senior Director, and artists on production and
conceptual needs for events.
Gala Patrons Management
• Coordinate all aspects of table and ticket solicitation, including pre-sale letters, invitations,
and supporting Leadership Cohort, Board & Committee members.
• Communicate with table/ticket buyers, confirming guests and ensuring payment.
• Develop seating plans and table charts with the Board and Senior Director.
• Follow-up with outstanding pledges and collect payments post-event.
• Capture attendee data in the database in an ongoing and timely manner.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Comms Manager on Gala marketing aspects.
• Coordinate with the Gala producer on guest relations.
• Schedule regular meetings with the Gala team and send weekly updates to the board on
sales.
Gala Auction Management
• Coordinate all aspects of silent and live auction solicitations, including outreach and support
for Senior Director, Board & Committee members.
• Catalog and track auction lots, ensuring data capture for donors and bidders.
• Write and design each auction lot.
• Coordinate auction items for donors, including private dinners, tours, and trips.
