Happy Medium exists to create and curate the best supplies, content and events for casual artists. There’s a lot of stuff out there for kids and capital “A” Artists, but there isn’t much for those that fall somewhere in between. We are on a mission to fill the gap. THE ROLE

The Glaze Tech is responsible for clear glazing and firing all pots painted at our Greenpoint Art Cafe. This is a back of house position working closely with our Pottery Operations Associate to ensure that every guest goes home with a beautiful pot glazed by our team! Customer satisfaction is our top priority at Happy Medium, so we will always go the extra mile to ensure the best possible results. This role requires impeccable organizational and communication skills in addition to prior experience in a pottery studio setting. The Glaze Tech is a part-time role (16-32 hours/week), reporting directly to the Pottery Manager.

Sample Responsibilities

• Clear glaze all Paint-A-Pots week to week
• Execute touch ups before and after firing
• Load and unload kiln
• Dremel bases of pots as they are unloaded
• Assist with shipping of pots
• Receive incoming packages
• Track pottery inventory
• Keep back room organized by date, ensuring that oldest pots are glazed and fired first
• Assist Pottery Operations Associate as needed
• Keep a clean and tidy workspace 
• Monitor kiln performance and report any firing issues to Tech Lead
• Execute repaints as needed

Requirements

• Glazing experience is required
• Kiln experience is a plus
• Restaurant experience preferred
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Flexible part-time availability
