Digital Content Manager

Description

Purpose of the Role

 

The Content Marketing Manager is a key member of Sutton’s Digital Marketing team, responsible for leading the creation and execution of digital content strategies that elevate our clients’ voices across platforms. This role focuses on the ideation, development, and distribution of dynamic, multimedia content – including short-form video, reels, social posts, podcast assets, newsletters, and more – aligned with broader campaign objectives. This is a highly creative, hands-on position that requires strong visual storytelling skills, an editorial eye, and fluency in emerging content trends across digital platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Digital Content Strategy & Creation


·      Lead the development of cross-platform content strategies for clients, aligned with campaign goals and target audiences

·      Produce and edit digital-first content – including social videos, animations, graphics, podcast recordings, etc. – for social media, email and other platforms as needed

·      Write compelling copy, captions, and short-form editorial for multiple platforms (social media, blog posts, e-newsletters, etc.)

·      Manage content calendars, ensuring a balanced mix of formats and messaging while staying on schedule and moving campaigns ahead in good time

·      Collaborate with in-house and freelance creatives (photographers, videographers, designers) to execute original content production as needed

 

Social Media Management & Campaign Execution


·      Plan and implement organic social media campaigns from concept through execution, optimizing for reach and engagement

·      Schedule and publish content across platforms using scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout Social)

·      Engage audiences and respond to comments/messages in a timely and strategic way

·      Manage influencer campaigns, from identifying talent to negotiating contracts and measuring ROI

·      Identifying cross-promotional opportunities and facilitating collaborative posts among multiple parties and institutions

 

Analytics & Optimization

 

·      Track content performance using platform analytics, Google Analytics, and other third-party tools as needed, with an understanding of key performance metrics most relevant to each campaign

·      Create regular client-facing content and campaign performance reports with actionable insights

·      A/B test formats and messaging to optimize engagement and audience growth

·      Ensure proper UTM tracking for accurate campaign attributions and reporting

 

Client Communication & Cross-Agency Collaboration

 

·      Serve as day-to-day digital content lead for assigned clients

·      Present content plans, campaign ideas, and performance reports to clients and internal teams

·      Coordinate with PR teams to ensure content supports integrated campaign goals

·      Support Sutton’s own digital marketing efforts, from managing the company’s own social media channels and updating internal mailers to driving new content streams 

 

Key Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

·      Content Creation Expertise: Proven ability to produce high-quality digital content across formats – short-form video, motion graphics, photography, podcast/audio assets, and animation – optimized for social and email platforms.

·      Digital Tools Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (especially Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator), Canva, CapCut, and other editing/production tools.

·      Social Media Strategy: Demonstrated understanding of platform-specific algorithms, engagement strategies, and content trends across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms.

·      Copywriting & Storytelling: Excellent writing skills with experience crafting compelling, audience-first copy for social captions, newsletters, blog posts, and branded content.

·      Influencer Marketing: Experience identifying, engaging, and managing influencer and creator collaborations, including negotiation and ROI analysis.

·      Data-Driven Mindset: Familiarity with analytics tools such as platform insights, Google Analytics, and UTM tracking to evaluate content performance and inform strategic decisions.

·      Campaign Execution: Hands-on experience planning, launching, and optimizing integrated digital campaigns within fast-paced creative or agency environments.

·      Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the arts, culture, fashion, or lifestyle sectors, including awareness of industry calendars, key events, and cultural relevance.

·      Tech Stack Awareness: Familiarity with Mailchimp, Substack, CMS tools (e.g., WordPress), and basic SEO principles is a strong plus.

·      Digitally Curious: Proactively stays informed about platform innovations, new tools, and evolving content trends to keep work fresh and effective.

·      Audience-Centric: Creates content with a strong understanding of audience behavior, interests, and motivations across different platforms.
