The International Center of Photography (ICP) is the world’s leading institution dedicated to photography and visual culture. Through our exhibitions, education, public programs, and community outreach, we offer an open forum for dialogue about the power of the image. Since our founding in 1974, we have presented more than 700 exhibitions and offered thousands of classes, providing instruction at every level. Our new integrated center on the Lower East Side reunites our school and museum in one space to become the cultural anchor of Essex Crossing.

 

Position Summary:

The Membership and Annual Fund Senior Manager at ICP plays a strategic leadership role in strengthening the institution’s base of individual support. This position oversees all aspects of membership and annual fund programming, with a focus on sustainable revenue growth, long-term member retention, and deepening donor engagement across ICP’s Museum and School. The Senior Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of innovative fundraising strategies, managing cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring the successful execution of integrated campaigns in collaboration with the Development, Marketing, Visitor Services, Public Programs, and Education teams.


 

Essential Functions and Duties:

 

Fundraising & Campaign Strategies

 

·      Design and execute a multi-year roadmap for transforming and growing ICP’s membership and annual fund programs, aligning with broader institutional fundraising goals.

·      Lead the planning and delivery of all membership and annual fund initiatives, including acquisition, renewals, upgrades, lapsed reactivation, and integrated digital and print campaigns.

·      Develop and manage budgets, ROI analysis, and forecasting for both programs; regularly report on performance metrics and insights.

·      Partner with the Associate Director of Individual Giving to identify and cultivate members for higher-level giving and patron programs.

·      Spearhead cross-departmental strategies to drive membership conversion, including incentive programs and on-site sales training for frontline staff.


Program Management & Communications

·      Supervise the execution of all membership and annual fund communications, including appeals, e-news, collateral, renewals, and acknowledgments.

·      Coordinate with internal and external partners to deliver high-quality creative and targeted messaging across mail, email, and social channels.

·      Collaborate with Marketing to optimize the promotion of membership and annual giving across ICP platforms.

·      Evaluate existing benefits and engagement offerings, and lead innovation in event programming and stewardship initiatives.

·      Develop Alumni initiatives with School for membership retention.

·      Take a lead role in planning and implementing all member and patron events, including developing communications plan, coordinating logistics with appropriate departments, establishing RSVP procedures and monitoring response.  


Data Management & Analytics

·      Partner with the Database specialist to manage list strategy and management, including rentals, exchanges, segmentation, and data hygiene.

·      Define and track KPIs to evaluate campaign and program performance.

·      Lead audience segmentation and personalization strategy using CRM tools (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Hubspot).

·      Use data insights to drive strategic decisions, optimize donor journeys, and build long-term value.

 


Additional Responsibilities:


·      Support the Associate Director of Individual Giving in managing patron/committee events and logistics.

·      Provide support for other departmental projects, including exhibition openings and gala events. 

·      Support the overall goals and initiatives of the Development team, contributing to a collaborative work environment.

·      Build supportive, collaborative relationships with ICP program staff to ensure accountability for gifts and donors.

·      Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in fundraising events and the art world.

Education Qualifications:

·    B.A. degree required. Higher degree preferred.

 

Experience Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in membership, annual giving, or individual fundraising.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing integrated fundraising campaigns.
  • Experience working with data and applying business insights to drive results
  • Experience in the arts or cultural sector strongly preferred.

Campaign Coordination & Fundraising

Leads the execution of integrated fundraising campaigns across digital and print channels, focusing on donor acquisition, renewals, and upgrades while maintaining a high level of energy and strategic focus.


Cross-Departmental Collaboration

Effectively collaborates across departments and manages cross-functional initiatives, aligning membership and fundraising efforts with institutional goals through clear communication and team leadership.


Relationship Management & Donor Engagement

Applies deep knowledge of donor cultivation and stewardship practices to build meaningful relationships, increase donor loyalty, and support pathways to higher-level giving.


Data Management & Reporting

Proficient in fundraising CRM platforms such as Raiser’s Edge and Hubspot, leveraging data insights to guide segmentation, campaign performance tracking, and donor journey optimization.


Event Planning & Execution

Plans and delivers impactful member and patron events, overseeing logistics and communications to ensure high-quality experiences that support engagement and stewardship goals.


Alumni & Membership Program Development

Develops alumni initiatives in partnership with educational programs to enhance membership retention and long-term constituent involvement.


Photography Knowledge and Passion

Brings a strong appreciation for photography and visual culture, contributing to mission alignment and audience engagement within museum and cultural contexts.
