Paula Cooper Gallery seeks a full-time assistant to work with two of the gallery's Senior Partners. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required, along with a demonstrated knowledge of and interest in contemporary art. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, outgoing personality, and flexibility.
Key areas of responsibility:
– Support sales related efforts, including preparing and disseminating sales materials to clients
– Maintain appointment calendar, input and update contact information in database, travel logistics
– Assist in the coordination of on and off-site events including performances, dinners, opening receptions and art fairs.
– Client research for upcoming exhibitions and other artist projects
– Assist with outgoing/incoming communication with artists, clients, and institutions
– Answer and direct phone calls and take messages, may be asked upon to help with receptionist/front desk duties
Skills:
– Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to represent an organization, both internally and externally, with the highest level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality and diplomacy
– Skilled multi-tasker with a record of completing projects in a timely manner with judgment and discretion
– Strong problem solving, time management and writing skills, including accurate proofreading
– Ability to interact and communicate effectively and build strong relationships with staff
– High degree of computer proficiency. Artbase & Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred
– Enthusiasm about art and familiarity with art history and standard gallery procedures, policies and practices is desired
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a related field (Art History, Arts Management, etc)
– 2–3 years relevant experience preferred
– Language skills a plus

The gallery is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday; Hours are 10am-6pm, punctuality a must. Plus frequent extended hours for special events.
